I have chosen the myth, “Eating more protein will give you bigger muscles.” Through my research I have found that this is definitely a myth. The only way to make your muscles bigger is to exercise.
This myth was probably started because our muscles contain long protein structures that need protein to be produced. When we exercise our body increases the size of the muscle cells because our body thinks that if it needs to be using those muscles they need to be bigger and more able to do more difficult things. Our muscles contuse long protein structures so when our muscles get bigger, we need protein in our blood to use as building blocks to help make these protein structures. So therefore, eating more protein won’t make your muscles bigger; it will however help them become stronger and healthier. (Zocdoc)

Eating protein can help conserve a steady metabolism through the day and give our bodies the support that they need during exercise. A person needs 0.8 g/kg of protein per day or 15 to 30% of their total caloric intake. Protein is important and you need to make sure that you are getting enough protein because it helps your body repair after you break it down during workouts. (Sharecare)
Consuming protein is important; however consumer more protein than you need won’t make your muscles bigger and can be harmful to you. Consuming too much protein, which is considered more than 2 grams of protein per kilogram of muscle mass per day, could lead to abnormal liver function, over stress of the kidney’s and be completely unhealthy.
As I have stated above, the myth that eating more protein will make your muscles bigger is in fact a myth. Getting bigger muscles takes time and hard work. By challenging your muscles you will see a difference, not by increasing your protein intake.
