Communication in Physical Therapy One of the major issues with physical therapy is the lack of communication between the physician and the patient. The problem with the lack of communication is the patient will not be fully healed because the physician is unaware of all of the aches and pains of their patient . The lack of communication will be the cause of the of further injury to the patient because the physician can not help the unknown. Communication is extremely important in physical therapy because it has a large impact on the positive experience of the patient, sessions are heavily influenced by communication, and the lack of communication by a physician can display an absence of skill.
Communication in physical therapy is very important to make sure the patient has a positive experience. First, the patient and the clinician must have a positive experience in their first interaction with one another. “ The complexity of interactions is evident in a systematic review of 12 studies investigating the association between communication factors” ( Roberts 480). Communication with clients are important and in the 12 studies that they viewed it shows the key to a good session in physical therapy is communication.
To conclude, one of the major issues with physical therapy is the lack of communication between the physician and the patient. With a reoccurring issue of a lack of communication the patient will not be fully healed.
