“Every 107 seconds, another American is sexually assaulted. Each year, there are 293,000 victims of sexual assault.” Sexual abuse is molestation. It is unwanted sexual behavior by one person upon another. It can happen to anyone. No matter what sex or age. 44 percent are under the age of 18 years old and 80% are under 30 years old. There is child sexual abuse, spousal sexual abuse and more. When it happens immediately it is called sexual assault. The offender is the molester. There are so many signs of sexual abuse that you probably wouldn’t think of. Child sexual abuse is defined by medem. Its sexual actions from an adult or an older child to a child. It includes a lot of different sexual acts. For example, sexual touching of any part of …show more content…
For example, seeing someone fear of someone or being touched in certain places. Also how the child reacts when asked if they were being touched. The child may not want to go to the doctor and get a physical exam. The child may draw certain things or just how their behavior changes. Just maybe trying to get other children to do sexual things. Spousal sexual abuse is almost similar to child abuse. Except spousal sexual abuse is a form of domestic violence. It’s when the sex if forced on to the other who is unwanted of it, which is known as rape. It’s can also be an assault. These aren’t the only two categories of sexual abuse. People with developmental disabilities are often of sexual abuse and it’s also a problem within minorities. They are many ways to prevent sexual abuse or ways to report. Ways to prevent is to always be with someone if traveling alone or going to parties. Make a plan before you go out and make checkpoints and code words. Always hold on to your drink. If your drink is out of sight don’t pick it back up. Don’t accept or share drinks. Always trust your instincts. While dating know your limits. Know what you want. If someone tries to push to do things you don’t want to do, you have the right to leave. Stay in control. Always carry enough money for a taxi and always have a charged phone. Pay attention to your surroundings. If something happens to you always report
