Essay – How far would sociologists agree that working class people are more likely to commit crimes than any other social class group?

The upper class is the group of people at the top of a social hierarchy. Members of an upper class may have great power over the grant of resources and governmental policy in their area.

The middle class is the group of people who are at the mediocre level of the social class hierarchy. Nurse, teacher and accountant are just three of the fastest growing middle class jobs within the year of 2010.

The working /lower class are the group of people who are at the lowest fragment of the social class hierarchy. Jobs like cleaning are casted as a lower class jobs as they are not paid well and alongside that people are most likely to be on benefits.

Sociologists would agree that working class people are more likely to commit crimes than other social class groups because there is pretty much lack of everything from education to discipline. Within the community of lower social classes there are a range of things which provoke individuals to commit crime in order to get money. Theses list of things would be: -

1. Jobs - lack of jobs would mean lack of money which means no food on table which equals to unhappy families and crime rates would increase this way.

2. Money – without the money people would not be able to spend wisely. For example if a lower social class individual whom was given hardly any money and then suddenly given a bit more than often would either spend it on alcohol, drugs or partying ( but of course that would be looking into the stereotypical point of view).

3. Socialization – if an individual does not socialize properly as need be then this would decrease the communication skill which may come useful for a within job and/or a job interview as this shows how well you would be able to communicate with the people around you to create a good atmosphere or communicating with customers...
