Welcome!
Welcome to the Targeted Learning Corporation’s presentation of CATS: The Nine Lives of Innovation, with Stephen C. Lundin, Ph.D. Steve Lundin, “The Big Tuna Ph.D.,” is best known as the author of the multimillion-copy, best-selling FISH! books. He has also been a working creative (a writer and filmmaker) and a student of innovation and creativity for more than 40 years. He has studied with Tony Buzan, originator of Mind Mapping®; Dr. Edward Debono, the man who conceptualized lateral thinking; and the creative business poet David Whyte. Steve is also the former director of the Institute for Innovation and Creativity at the University of St. Thomas. Long bothered by the love–hate relationship we have with innovation, Steve has devoted a portion of his life to the search for an innovation framework that honors its heritage while simplifying the structure and thus making it more accessible to everyday people like himself. In the last five years, three key influences have helped him frame the first tentative structure. These influences include his participation in The Innovation Network founded by Joyce Wycoff, his discovery that the philosophy he wrote about in his book FISH! is found in the DNA of the most innovative organizations, and the study of a design firm called IDEO. These three influences led to a structure now referred to as The Nine Lives of Innovation. All nine lives can be taught or learned by everyday human beings—or as Tony Buzan might say, “by the everyday geniuses that you are.”
