What is Culture?
CULTURE SPEECH

Culture is a way of life for a group of people--the beliefs, values, norms, and symbols that people often accept without thinking about them. A culture is a way of living that is often passed along through communication, observation, and imitation.
You will now deliver an informative speech about the history, traditions, or customs that are significant to your own culture, or a culture that fascinates you. When devising your speech, you may consider how a culture’s traditions illustrate values, beliefs, or norms. The speech is not limited to a reflection of an ethnic background. You may feel more aligned with a co-culture that reflects more of your own personal beliefs. A co-culture is a social group within a national culture that contains its own distinctive patterns of beliefs, values, and norms. For example: skaters, surfers, hip hop, etc. The subject of culture also includes our beliefs, philosophies, and expression of self and ideas. For example, martial arts, dance, etc.
Requirements:
1. You must turn in a typed outline and bibliography on the day of your speech, before your speech. The outline must follow the guidelines based on textbook and lecture and will contain a bibliography in MLA or APA format. When you have finished your speech, you will also attach your very brief speaking notes. 
2. Research may be obtained from more informal sources for example, family interviews, (only one interview per bibliography) personal experience, and the internet. Two sources are required.
3. Visual Aid Required.

4. Your speech will be 5-7 minutes. Have fun, explore, and learn new information about your cultureJ.
5. Although this assignment is designed to give you space to express yourself with less structure, this does not mean your speech should lack organization or depth.
