Equality of Men and Women: An Introduction
Introduction

Both men and women have equal rights nowadays since gender equality has been a social concern. But in the recent years, psychologist and sociologist have begun to study how men are discriminated against women because there is an aspect of society that discriminates against men. This aspect of society is hard to discuss and to study. We all know that men are physically stronger while women are more emotionally aware. Men are good providers while women are better nurturers. We acknowledge the differences between the sexes but nobody can say or prove who is better than the other. They compromise/balance each other. The stereotype that man is favored most than women maybe somehow true if we look on the trends with our society. But feminism may have their right to insist that they can do better than men. For us, the main issue is how are we people contributes to be a good citizen in our society. Equality on men and women would still be an issue till the next generation, and arguments would still be on discussed by all people. The best that can be hoped for is that people are happy. Neither men nor women need to be equal in order to be happy with each other. Gender issue has been excited topic to our society. Arguments have been hovering over people on whom between men and women are the great and should receive credit. We believe that the politically-correct aim for equality between men and women is not achievable. It surely is impossible. It will never be found, it will never be discovered. The search for equality between men and women is a never-ending war, because both genders claim that they are better than the other.
Nowadays, capabilities of women cannot be hindered. Men should honor their hard work and achievements that had taken almost two centuries to achieve and a life time to be granted the acceptance of men. They are starting to beat men in terms of leadership; an evidence is those female presidents from other countries. Women who have

The authors have made different suggestions about the solutions to the problem. One thing that is common among the various author’s discussions is that, the society has made significant progress in promoting gender equality but at the same time, the society is still the biggest barrier to gender equality. This is because; even if the structures are created to allow women to have a significant role in the society, the perception of the society and institutions undermines the women role due to stereotyping and expectations. Therefore, the ultimate solution to the gender equality problem is changing the perception in the…

Today generation is very fast and like men, women are also coming in the front to compete with men and they are really doing well. If we give them the proper guidance like they can prove that women are in no way less then men, and we should be proud to say that human beings are developing, and not men or women only. Society would answer this question by saying, "No, men and women are not equal," but I have a different opinion on this matter. Men and women are different in different ways, but all humans have things that differ between them. When it comes down to it, we are all humans and not one gender is greater than the other. Women do all these things yet they don't get any praise for it whereas a man does one thing and the then the whole world revolves around him. This is basically saying that women get treated like dirt where as they do a lot of things that a man can't do. Women must be equal to men and they are equal to men.We should support girls education and make the world a better place to live as expected and if women are given equal rights to men definitely the development of the world also will be equal and hence we support this. I believe that women are not treated as equal as men eventhough they should.…

Often in literature as in life, characters and people experience discrimination, racial injustice, educational inequalities, poverty, and pollution. Among these characters and people, some can become negativly affected. Among those who are negatively affected, there are always those who fearlessly stand up for their beliefs. Standing up for what someone believes requires extreme bravery. Throughout history many people worked to have their voices heard. Sojourner Truth, President Lyndon B. Johnson, and Shirley Chisholm used their voices to create change. Authors also used literature as a vehicle to create change through fictional characters’ voices and actions. - The level of bravery illustrated paved the way for change.…

Women have struggled to obtain equality and freedom of every kind over the years, as they have traditionally been viewed as inferior to men. The old stereotype of men and women and their respective roles has come into question, specifically over the last century, which has been one of great change. A number of events and influential people led to these positive shifts in gender equality.…

Gender inequality is what causes segregation between men and women; it’s also a highly contested segment in the area of sociology, even though there is a milder occurrence of situations having to do with gender inequality now compared to early days. Its occurrence cannot be over emphasized. Difference in culture, environment, and the social era at the present moment can affect how humans perceive gender inequality? And how it affects them negatively or positively? When we talk about gender inequality, most times our minds are driven towards the fact that men are considered higher than women in all ramifications; this is part of what brings about the inequality. Hence, this brings about patriarchy construct; ‘’which refers to social conditions being thought of or structured in a way that favors men and boys over women and girls’’…

Many don’t see that there is a gender difference in society some would even argue that women have their duties and men have their duties in society. Many don’t understand that men and women are the same and equal in abilities. Women should not be looked down upon for their albites because they are female. In Sweden there is a great promotion for gender equality, according to Sweden’s national website women are being the breadwinners of the family while husbands are taking on the stay at home father figure. I think it’s important that we educate others on gender inequality, in my opinion I believe there is not a great emphasis or talk about gender inequality unless you go onto college and study it. I also believe that if parental figures or role model portrayed and advocated gender inequality many people and kids will look up to them and follow them and their ideas. This can be beneficial because it can change the way society views gender. Another recommendation I have it to protest for equal gender rights. While there are some group and organizations out there like feminist promoting, society and the government need to take into consideration of their ideas instead we are still fixated on traditional gender…

According to James Henslin, gender is the primary division between people (p. 294). Sociologists classify females as the minority group even though there is more women than men in the world. Women are sometimes treated differently than men. Some believe that women are delicate and can’t do the job of men. Back in the days, women were treated badly. They were only allowed to stay home and take care of their children. Until 1920, women had the rights to do what men do. They were able to work and vote. Gender discrimination is in everyday life. We can see it in school and jobs. For example, sometimes people make comments that offend women. Coaches will call the boy girl names, if they don’t play a certain sport right. So in order to motivate them, they will either say “you play like a girl” or they shout “they’re wearing skirts” (Henslin, p. 304). With this we can see that people think women are weak and can’t do things right. We can also see gender discrimination in the work force. According to Joseph E. Stiglitz (2013), women are paid less than men. On average, women make 72 percent of what men make having a full time job in the United States (Henslin, p. 300). Many question why females get paid less than men. According to Jacobs (2003), women are more likely to choose low paying jobs such as teaching, and men go for better paying jobs like business or engineering (p. 312). With this I feel that…

Society places values and concerns on the behaviours and attitudes of an individual in regards to gender roles in society. Over the years, rules and expectations for men and women’s have altered through the changing values. Traditionally, Men were expected to support the family through monetary funds where as women were known to be housewives as they stayed home to cook and look after the children. Gender role is defined as a set of societal norms dictating what type of behaviours are generally considered acceptable, appropriate or desirable for a person based on their actual or perceived sex. In contrast sex discrimination is similarly related to gender roles as it defines how a person is treated unfairly or with less favourable characteristics…

It is undeniable that women, in general, have suffered all sorts of discrimination and have been treated poorly by every society around the world for as long as history has been recorded. All countries in the world have announced their support to equal rights for women. Yet, on a daily basis, various forms of discrimination and violence against females take place around the world. Sometimes, men install glass ceilings to separate women, which prevent them from moving up in their careers. Sometimes, it is manifested through salaries with women being paid less than men. Discriminatory laws and social norms, which give preference to men in different fields, also reduce women to the status of a "second class citizen".…

This study deals with gender inequality in the modern society and looks at the difficulties women face when they strive for equal success as their male counterparts. About seventy-five percent of the jobs in well-paid professions are held by men and even if women are able to get equal jobs they are still paid considerably less . The central question posed is, are there any differences in the aspirations and career goals between males and females? However, in order to fully understand stereotypical social values about sex-roles in our society, an analysis of the broader context, in terms of the findings of the research of experts in the field, is needed. Thus, this Literature Review discusses the research on gender discrimination in the modern society as well as what drives women into the workforce.…

What I have concluded from the 3 articles I found, are that societies are the culprit of this issue; because of the conservative thoughts that are held firmly by the societies, they view the reason for the existence of the women is to show the superiority of the men. I felt insulted when I saw this statement, it seems like my existence in this world is to show the superiority of the men. To be candid, I don’t deny that men are physically stronger than women but except in this aspect, women can do better in everything than men such as cooking, sewing, gardening and even in academic results, women receive a greater number of the honors degrees at many universities. Because of the societies, women will never be equal as men. I just hope the societies are suffered from Amnesia and let the both genders start all over again so that equality can be achieved. Besides, according to “The New Misogyny”, the Macquarie Dictionary has decided to change the definition of the word misogyny, ‘hatred of women’ to a softer meaning, ‘hatred of women plus entrenched…

Since the early ages, women have always been treated unfairly. For decades, there was always a wall that separated men and women which made it impossible for women to get any fair treatment whether it is a superstition, a thought or a cultural belief. Gender equality is a view where both men and women are treated equally and receive the same rights and opportunity. But the idea of equality is always changing and evolving. Some believe that that the Earth is so diverse that it would create a common idea/goal where we could unite and stand together to be “equal,” but around the world there are still countries where women are discriminated and treated unfairly.…

I believe there isn’t equality between men and women today because women are still not treated as equal to men. For example when a girl is born, she will have to wait till she is 50 years old before she has a chance to have her equal rights or lead a country. Whereas men can start leading a country whenever they want and have no restrictions to have their rights.…
