In today’s life, there are many dangerous radioactive materials and elements, which can cause different kind of cancers and health problems. Furthermore, it can be said that radon threatens people's everyday life. Studies show that most of the human exposure to radon is from houses and also radon penetrates from foundations and enters into the building. Many developed countries made their own atlas of radon. By using this atlas it can be understood where to build houses or how to build houses in geographical polluted areas. The most important source of this gas is the Earth. It diffuses from different types of rocks and penetrates to houses and can cause lung cancer. In this study, a new Geo-statistical tool and a creative approach is used …show more content…
Kriging is an optimal interpolator that has a minimum error variance.(Hung, 2001) Empirical Bayesian Kriging is a Kriging-based interpolation method that accounts for uncertainty in semivariogram estimation by simulating many semivariograms from the input data. In addition, Empirical Bayesian Kriging can account for moderate nonstationarity by building local models on subsets of the input data. Semi variance modeling was carried out to create the probability map. Empirical Kriging regression assumes that, the deterministic component of the target variable is accounted for by the regression model, while the model residuals represent the spatially varying but dependent stochastic component (Pásztor et al., 2016). According to this map there are three zones for radon risk. It can be understand that the north and east part of this region which its name is Kope Daq and Binallood regions, have a high volume of radon and is shown by red color that show approximately volume of radon more than 100 Bq/m3. This region is consist of dolomite, limestone, subordinate marl and glauconitic. In some parts of this area, where the rock are include shale, gypsum, granite and sand stone has more volume of the radon gas. As said before, considerable population lives in this area and the radon risk should be accounted seriously. The center and south of Mashhad region shows lower volume of radon which has shown with light blue and yellow colors, where are shown 70-100 Bq/m3 volume of radon for blue part and 46-70 Bq/m3 for yellow area. The rock type in this part includes gravel fan, terraces, and conglomerate and also shale, and also sandstone exists in some places.
