On October 22nd, 2015 Elizabeth Slattery, a junior midfielder for the University of Florida Gators soccer team, scored a last-second winner in double overtime against South Carolina. The buzzer beater shot came off of Slattery’s foot with two seconds on the clock before a tie would’ve been made. This win was crucial for the Gators to clinch the SEC regular season title and an overall exciting and energizing win that would help push the team to win the SEC Tournament as well. This play got overnight media attention and even gained SportsCenter #1 play of the night.
