Electric Iron Mechanism
Mechanism description of Electric Iron

introduction:
An electric iron is a small appliance,a handheld piece of equipment with a flat, roughly triangular metal surface that, when heated, is used to press clothes to remove creases.
Ironing works by loosening the ties between the long chains of molecules that exist in polymer fiber materials. With the heat and the weight of the ironing plate, the fibers are stretched and the fabric maintains its new shape when cool.

description: The electric iron must have a design and an electric iron basically consist of basically a heating coil and thermostat. It also has electrical cord, temperature control dial and a sole plate.

· The design should allow the iron to be set down, usually standing on its end, without the hot soleplate touching anything that could be damaged.
· Thermostat : When we switch on the electric iron current flows throught the heating coil. The heat in the heating coil causes expansion in the thermostat which gradually disconnects the supply.
· Heating Coil : a coil made of metal so when electricity flows through it, it gets hot and it transferes this heat to the sole plate.
· Sole plate : it's a a flat triangular surface cast of aluminium coated with a non-stick PTFE or stainless steel. It's heated and press clothes to remove creases.
· Electrical cord: It has heat-resistant and the point at which the cord attaches to the iron has a spring to hold the cord out of the way while ironing and likewise when setting down the iron.
· Temperature control dial : allows the user to select the operating temperatures.
· Handel: to be gripped from. usaually from plastic.

Conclusion:
The electric iron is an application of conversion of electric energy into heat energy to be used in removing creases from clothes by streching the fibers. And it consists of many parts but the most impotant are the heating coil, the thermostat and the sole plate.
Electric iron is now one of the essential

The two windings have no conductive connection between them and are kept separate, usually by the length of the yoke and also by insulation around the conductive material. In other words they are not linked electrically but they are linked magnetically. On the input side of the transformer (primary winding) a varying electrical current is applied. This varying current produces magnetic flux that flows around the core. This varying magnetic flux causes the secondary winding to induce an electromotive force (EMF) and this will cause a current to flow from the secondary winding. This is called mutual inductance, when the change in current in one winding results in an induction of voltage in the other winding. The varying electrical current is most commonly alternating current but pulsed continuous current can be used as well to make the transformer work.…

The first type of iron was the “pig iron”, produced with a high carbon level that makes it rigid, hard and fragile. In 1710 were introduced the coke smelting iron, but until 1750 this new product was not widely used; the reduced costs of pig-iron allowed the use of cast iron in many more applications, especially in constructions. In this case the innovation is not due to the costs of the material but to his resistance to fire hazard, caused by an increase in the use of steam energy in the textile mills.…
