To show consideration for; treat courteously or kindly is respect. There are different kinds of respect. There is respect for your parents and those who are superior to you which is very important so that you learn obedience towards others. Respect is also shown in the way you talk to others. Talking rudely to others can turn them off. Respect can show that you can be a good role model for others around you. Respect cannot be demanded, it is an asset that has to be earned. It includes taking someone’s feelings, thoughts, ideas, wishes and preferences into consideration. It also means taking all of these seriously and giving them worth and value.
From the very childhood, kids are taught to respect their parents, elders, and teachers. Kids find it hard to respect certain people. If a parent behaves generally positively with their child, it is normal for the child to reciprocate and show the same behavior. Although, if a parent scolds a child, the child wants to reciprocate his/her behavior but the parents defies their behavior and tells the child to respect them. Nobody can earn respect by suppression, it is an action that cannot be forced upon others. Earning respect always counts on the way you act around others. If a person comes off as disobedient or arrogant, they will not be respected. If they come off as trustworthy and kind, they will be thought as mature and good.
