economic growth of malta
Task 7:
Political factor:
The government has implemented a project that Gozo Channel Co Ltd will be affected badly if it will happen. The government is thinking about building up a bridge from Malta to Gozo so people will travel by car not with the Gozo Channel Co Ltd. Gozo Channel Co Ltd have to do something so as to be competitive and not to loose customers maybe they will reduce the travel prices and even food prices. They obviously are going to loose customers as people may prefer going to Gozo by car as they will win more time or else you’ll find people that don’t drive and have to go with the Gozo channel.
Legal factor:
The government has restricted the law of sick leave. When an employer is sick he has to call the company and tell them that he is sick and they will send their own doctor to check what type of sickness he have. Gozo Channel Co Ltd has been affected good and bad in this factor. Good is because the employers will feel more comfortable working within the company as they will take sick leave when they are sick and they will be paid normally, and bad is because some of the employers will abuse with this law. Some of the employers may tell the company that they are sick but they won’t be sick, they just want a day off. Even if the company sends the doctor he will not know as there are types of sickness that even the doctor can’t tell you what you have.
Social factor:
The company like to organize travel arraignments on the festive seasons or some activities that are happening in Gozo and even in Malta. They can reduce the prices to travel so people may be interested more in travelling with the Gozo Channel and they will have more profit. For example in the Isle Of MTV many people come to Malta to come to this festival. This will lead to many traffic in Malta and in Gozo and so they will increase the time of travelling from Gozo to Malta. This will help as there will be less traffic and people will feel less frustrated.

Answer: Yes, I believe there is a problem to the absenteeism at ONO even though the books states “Unfortunately there are no industry-specific figures on the costs of employee absenteeism (F. Cascio, pg.53).” Because it does not mention whether or not any of the employees went past their allotted 12 days sick leave paid we cannot judge whether or not it is a big concern. Some organizations only payout vacation if an employee leaves so most individuals make sure to use their earned sick days so they do not loose them after the…

c growth. Although there was a substantial increase in economic growth between the years of 1980 and 2005 that benefited virtually all citizens, the ones at the top benefited much more. Recessions throughout the last thirty years have harmed everyone, but those at the top have the ability to rebound after a negative shock to the economy. Yet those at the bottom of the income ladder see themselves applying for unemployment compensation because their job has been cut due to recessionary effects. Not only is income inequality harmful to the individual, but governments see tremendous burdens from those at the bottom. Safety net options come into the equation when low income earners have dismal job security or low wages. In order to fix this trend,…

Work-related stress is one of the biggest causes of sick leave in the UK. If you’’ve noticed you always seem to be rushing about, or miss meal breaks, take work home or don’’t have enough time for relaxation, for your family or for exercise, then you may well find yourself under stress, especially at work. There is often no single cause of work-related stress, but it can be caused by poor working conditions, long hours, relationship problems with colleagues, or lack of job security. Stress is often the result of a combination of these factors that builds up over time. Work-related stress can result in both physical problems, such as headaches, muscular tension, back or neck pain, tiredness, digestive problems and sweating; or emotional problems, such as a lower sex drive, feelings of inadequacy, irritability and lack of concentration. According to recent surveys, one in six of all working individuals in the UK said their job is very stressful, and thirty percent of men said that the demands of their job interferes with their private lives.…
