That day as the 2 terrorists played hide and seek with the national guard and the swat team, one of them was shot and died. During that time the entire state of Massachusetts was shut down. Citizens were told stay in their homes, but they helped anyways to search their homes and report any suspicious activity. Finally the terror was over, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found and arrested, and on March 19th was sentenced to death on 30 counts of homicide charges. 1 year after the bombing incident, the survivors held a commemorative

A fairly simple solution can be made to solve three problems at once. The first problem is that too many people are addicted to alcohol and drugs. The second problem is that fertilizer can be used to create bombs that endanger the public. The final problem is that there is no room for illegal immigrants to come in.…

On April 15, 2013 I remember hearing from Mr. Ham that the Boston marathon had been bombed at the finish line. The only knowledge I had of this incident before I read about it— was that it was a terrorist attack. After reading this article explaining about the convictions of the two terrorists Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, there isn’t any sort of bias that I can see going on in this topic. Although the author doesn’t have her own argument about the situation, she talks about the dispute between the terrorists and the prosecutors and the jury. The prosecutors and the jury came to the conclusion that Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were found guilty.…

Tragedies seem unreal for people who are directly affected by them. There something that can either unite or destroy people. Just like making life decisions can take away a life or give life. A similar decision was made to take away Timothy McVeigh’s life as a sentence due to his action to bomb 168 individuals in the Murrah Building on April 19, 1995. This horrific circumstance is remembered as the Oklahoma City Bombing. One man’s decision to inflict pain, due to his strong faith, caused another to return the favor on a more intense level.Who is America to decide that she will be the bearer of life or, in McVeigh’s case, a barrier of death? “While the horrific scale of McVeigh’s crime seem to demand the ultimate penalty, there’s something…

For my current event I chose an article entitled, “Dr. Alan Mendoza: Brussels Bombing Shows European Multiculturalism ‘Simply Has Not Worked’” by John Hayward. The article was written March 22 2016, and it address the terrorist attack that recently happen in Brussels. The bombing happen on a Tuesday in a Brussels airport. Dr. Alan Mendoza blames multiculturalism for the terrorist attack that took place. Dr. Mendoza states, “What we desperately need, and what Europeans will have to begin to understand, is that their idea of multiculturalism — their idea of allowing communities to come into their societies and act as they please, rather than as we would ask everyone to behave — has simply not worked. And the idea that you have, for example,…

My first question is does the family of the terrorists truly not know that their family member was planning to perform a violent act? Z and his family said that they did not know about the plan. The mother told the police while being interrogated after the shooting, “I hadn’t heard a single syllable” (Ebrahim 7). The plans of terrorism came from the long hours their father spent in a mosque. I thought that this was believable until I saw the movie Patriots Day, which is about the Boston Marathon Bombing. This movie showed the life of the terrorists, and…

It was just another Patriots’ Day in Boston on April, 15th, 2013. It would be the 117th annual Boston Marathon, with spectators from all over the world. For Sydney Corcoran and her parents, they were there supporting their aunt run in the race (Brian 6). At 2:49 that afternoon, it would never be the same for Sydney. With over 5,600 runners still trying to complete the twenty-six mile run, a pressure-cooker bomb exploded near the finish line on Boylston Street. Next, another bomb exploded within seconds of the first, only a couple hundred feet down the street (“Boston” History). For Sydney, it was the beginning of a nightmare. She had lost her parents, and was down on the ground with a piece of metal the size of a cell phone stuck in her foot (Brian 5). There was no turning back now for most bystanders near the finish line, and the Boston Marathon would never be the same. The suffering and sadness of this tragedy left the city with three deaths, hundreds without limbs, several hospitalized, and billions of Americans worried about…

The New York Times article that I have chosen to speak about in this paper was reported on November 19th, 2015. The article is about the Paris Attack Terrorist, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who was killed in a shootout. Abdelhamid Abaaoud had been planning the terror attack eleven month prior to the attacks in Paris. Abdelhamid Abaaoud was to believe to a part of multiple of other planned terror attacks that were foiled times before. The article retells of his escape from central intelligence and his belief on the terror attacks. This article points to an issue of moral concern if violence should be used and would it make it morally ethic. The ethical theories I have chosen to apply to the current event are Virtue Ethics and Prima Facie Ethics.…

    Suicide Bombing

Ever since the year 1983, the number of suicide bombing acts has risen significantly. Shockingly, most suicides are performed by people who are not “conformed to the typical profile of the suicidal personality… none of them [are] uneducated, desperately poor, simple-minded, or depressed,” according to author David Brooks (352). Suicide bombers give their own lives as a way to show loyalty and to be seen as martyrs to their people. Many families urge their children to go through bomber training and recruitment, claiming that they will be happy if their children die while successfully killing “enemies.” Suicide should not be praised, urged, or seen as an act of martyrdom by families unless it is a disastrous and uncontrollable situation.…
