“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.” I chose to put this quote on my paper bag because it is a quote that I believe everyone should live by, and it is also my life’s motto. I also chose to decorate this bag with fall leafs for two reasons. One, because fall begins on September 22nd, and two, fall is one of my favorite seasons. Now I will show you a few things that both describe me and are most important to me.…

Man has come a long way from the caveman days and so has our understanding of the world around us. Humans have always used plants and animals in one capacity or another, yet when a person thinks of the phrase 'plants and animals', they automatically begin thinking about the differences between the two. Well I say that plants and animals have been known far too long for their differences. And as different as they seem, plants and animals are very similar in the following areas: reproduction, human uses, and the requirement of water. Even though plants and animals can be distinguished from one another, evolution has bridged the gap between the two more than most people realize.…

Plants are multicellular eukaryotes, most of which produce their own food through photosynthesis and have adapted to life on land. Plants share many characteristics with green algae. Both are photosynthetic eukaryotes with the same types of chlorophyll. Both also use starch as a storage product and have cell walls that contain cellulose.…

According to the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, “one of every three bites of food eaten worldwide depends on pollinators, especially bees, for a successful harvest” - think about that for a moment; how many bites of food do you, one individual, eat per day? Now remove a little more than thirty-three percent of that - it may not seem like all that much, but with that including every single person who eats each day, it adds up to a mountain of food that wouldn’t exist without bees. Beyond that, too, is the fact that herbivores (and many omnivores) rely on plant life for sustenance, and the carnivores (and any omnivores) rely on eating the herbivores (and smaller carnivores/omnivores) for their own continued life - so, without so many plants, there’d be far fewer animals as well (and let’s not even begin on how that would affect the ecosystem(s) as a…

Plants undergo the process of photosynthesis, where they absorb light energy and convert it into sugar. This process expels oxygen, which all living things require to survive. In addition, plants are a food, and hence an energy source, for many living creatures, making them essential in the food chain.…

Plants make their own food, using water and carbon dioxide to make glucose (energy) and oxygen (a waste product) in a process called photosynthesis. Though very little of it, it also lets out some carbon dioxide. This is the reason that it has adapted to live in places with lots of sunlight- so it can absorbed enough of it to make energy. It also grows in ground that has a water source. Different varieties of plants have adapted to live with different amounts of water. For example, a daisy that can be commonly found in Europe needs an almost constant water intake to survive while cacti, which grow in hotter, dryer places such as desserts don’t need a constant intake but have a way of storing it so it can gradually use it over the period of time until it finds more.…

He takes the puck and skates through a crowd of defensemen. He passes the centerline and releases the puck. It's in the net! The red light is on, and it's official. A goal is added to the scoreboard. This sport is ice hockey. Unlike rugby, a specific person did not invent ice hockey. A group of British soldiers created this sport in the mid 1850s. They were stationed in Nova Scotia where they decided to play the sport with sticks made by the Mi'kmaq people of Nova Scotia. In the 1870s, students of McGill University made the rules for modern ice hockey and the very first indoor game was played in 1875. Today, I will be talking about the history of ice hockey in the NHL, why ice hockey is the best sport ever created and my favourite NHL team.…

    Marijuana Speech

The topic I will be discussing today is cannabis, marijuana, weed, pot, or ganja, whatever you prefer to call it. I did this topic because I believe that the majority of people do not know much about cannabis, and I want them to be properly informed so that they are not drawn in by false information. In this speech you will hear me use the terms hemp and marijuana. Hemp and marijuana are both products of the plant cannabis, but the important difference in the two is the amount of THC in the plant. THC is the chemical in cannabis which causes the “high” that people get from smoking or eating it. In order to get high from smoking cannabis it must contain at least 3% THC. Hemp only contains .01% to .03% amounts of THC, meaning it would not be possible to get high off of it no matter how much is smoked. Marijuana THC levels range from 3%-15%, which means it is able to produce a high by smoking and ingesting it. The uses of cannabis vary whether it is being grown for marijuana or hemp.…
