Dual Enrollment English Reflective Report
Throughout the first half of Dual Enrollment English I have learned that life is only a reflection of what I allow myself to see. From writing numerous essays to analyzing readings within my textbook, I have been taught many things. Such as, improvement techniques towards my grammar, along with correcting run-on sentences. Although, I have become stronger in many different areas, there is still always room for improvement. Coming into this class I always strived for perfection because I didn't like mistakes. However, throughout I have learned striving for continuous improvement is the smart route to take. It helps you build confidence and examine the significant areas that need a little more work. Overall, learning without reflecting is a waste, for all the good and bad things I have done in writing are a mirror image of myself. Yet with much consideration and evaluation many things can be changed effectively. I firmly believe strength and growth transpires from continuous effort. Thus far into english I have learned many beneficial techniques. Especially, new methods on how to improve my writing overall. Before this class, I personally thought my writing was in good condition, but there is always room for …show more content…
However, I have learned many things about myself too. For what I write on a piece of loose leaf, or type on my chromebook is a reflection of myself. Throughout the first half of this course, my writing has improved tremendously. From critiquing my own work and identifying mistakes, to building a desire to learn more. Improvement and acquiring knowledge are huge parts of learning. Something I am always prepared for because I know it will benefit me in later parts of my life. Such as, when I attend college, I am certain I will have to write and revise numerous papers. Everything in this class is preparing for that and it excites me that I still have more to

Reflective practice is important because of you didn't reflect over the work you have done you would never be able to improve on what you have done. By reflecting you can look over work you have done and see what worked well and what didn't then try and improve it for the next time if needed.…

Overall, my experience taking English 106-H was fulfilled and I truly enjoyed my time in class. What were once weaknesses, slowly, but surely became strengths. Thus, it was through my weaknesses that helped me develop my writing skills, making me a stronger writer. Through free writing, word traps, and ideas of my own, I was able to implement those strategies into my writing. Nevertheless, I have reached my goal, but still will continue to strive for even stronger writing through out all of my courses at Lycoming College.…

After a year of focused work in English 250, I feel that I have developed the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in multiple ways. My strengths as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the material we had this semester. We discussed several different aspects of the English language and spent a good amount of time this semester perfecting our ability to write rhetorical analyses. Doing so allowed us to focus a lot of our time on the WOVE method of communication and become better communicators.…

Throughout elementary and secondary education, challenge and regular English-Language Arts classes were offered to the student in my school districts, each with the goal to build on what the previous class had taught us. Whether it was sixth grade English where short essays and essay structure was first taught or eighth grade where the grammar and prose were drilled into our heads. Whether it was sophomore year where the challenge ELA class began writing five and six page essays or in AP Language and AP Literature where everything we had been learning was now applicable to our writing and we learned how to write a synthesis, rhetorical analysis and arguments. I truly believe that all of these classes prepared myself adequately for what was…

Focusing in self- evaluation to improve the learning process, help me to set goals and be aware of my own mistakes. When the English Composition course started, I wanted to be able to express my thoughts and my ideas in an effective way. The process of writing for non-native speakers of English is kind of difficult. For me, the American style of writing is very narrow, and my style is completely different. I found myself having trouble sticking to a thesis, because I had so many ideas that I did not know how to organize, and that was the primary purpose of taking this course, to learn to make my writings more organized.…

I have examined students in the Wight Foundation helping one another out so we can all excel. There is always room for growth even when you think you are your…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Over the course of this year in English, I think my writing process has excelled the most along with my overall writing. In the past, I have used similar techniques to develop a final essay, but, this year, I have begin to rely more heavily on planning out and slowly chipping away at my essays and papers. I believe also that because of this planning the strength of my writing as a whole has grown. Personally, I do not think that I grew in my vocabulary usage. Overall this year, I grew as a writer in ways that I would not have predicted.…

Some people tend to be reflective while others show non-intellectual manner in the way they process information.
