Drug and alcohol use
In our society, we face a number of problems. We face many different problems. The problem that causes most of the problems these days are drugs. Drugs cause bad decision making and it gets people addicted to bad habits. Alcoholism is one of the major problems in society. The effects of this disease are really serious. Many people get used to drinking alcohol, and they can easily abuse. Smoking can cause lung disease and damage. Drinking alcohol affects your mind and thoughts. If a person has a drug or drinking problem, the person can always get help. Street drugs are worse than alcohol. Scientists rated alcohol as the most harmful overall and almost three times as harmful as cocaine or tobacco. Drinking alcohol affects the body in many ways. Alcohol is a depressant, which slows down the function of the nervous system. These effects can lead to physical and mental changes that can put alcohol users and others at risk of injury or death. A possible danger could be car crashes. Drinking too much alcohol affects many parts of the body. It can be especially harmful to the organ, the organ that breaks down alcohol and other harmful substances. In my opinion, I think the alcohol drinking age should not be lowered. It should not be lowered because there are many risks. Drunk driving, alcohol poisoning, and violent behavior are some examples. I think some people won’t be responsible enough to start drinking at a lowered age. This could cause fatal accidents and alcohol poisoning. It’s dangerous and a risk to others. You can hurt people in car crashes in not only your car but it will hurt people in other cars too. Also, the brain does not fully mature until the age of 21. You could cause a permanent damage to the brain. I think there is no such thing as teenagers drinking with responsibility. There is a chance that they might drink too much of it. Teenagers who drink alcohol can have a significant reduction in learning and memory, and are at a greater risk of damaging key brain areas that are undergoing dramatic changes during this critical time of development. This damage may be permanent and irreversible. If adults drink it, the risk won’t be too dangerous because they stopped developing. Even though people take drugs and alcohol, there are places where people can get help from. For example, AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) can help you with a drinking problem. There are many programs that can help people get rid of bad drug habits and get proper treatment. Without these programs, many people would not have a place to go to for help and treatment.

There are many pros and cons to lowering the national drinking age from 21 years of age to 19 years of age. I believe the drinking age should stay at 21 even though many of my peers feel otherwise.
