Dress Codes In Christian Schools Essay

Dress codes and Christian schools typically go hand-and-hand. One always associates the two as a lot of Jesus, but a lot of dress code rules. If I were to survey Christian schools in the area, I would find that the majority of them have dress codes. But dress codes are not always the answer to the problems. Why not have dress guidelines instead of an actual dress code in Christian schools? As Christians, we are to be set apart from others. One aspect we need to be set apart would be how we dress. The fact that we are supposed to be set apart is where most Christian schools get their pesky dress codes from. But why should we, Christians, even have immodest clothing items in our closets? With a dress code in Christian schools it only causes the students to want to push the limits of the dress code or even just rebel all together. But, with dress guidelines
It would be so much easier for the parents, teachers, and students if there was no dress code. The students wouldn’t have to worry about twinning with another student because their options are limited, sticking out like a sore thumb when they go into public places, buying new clothes, and just being flat-out embarrassed. The teachers wouldn’t have to constantly get on the students for breaking the dress code. The parents would actually save a little of money, as well. With all the issues caused by a dress code, why do Christian schools still have them? Would it not be so much more effective to have dress guidelines instead of a dress code in Christian schools? The Christian students would actually be able to witness to the unsaved by the simplest thing…the way they dress. If the students are not forced to wear what the school says the unsaved will be able to see how that even though we are Christians, we can still dress cute but have a modest and set apart
