Dress Code

“ A dress brings us together, like an athletic team.” I feel some type of dress code would cut down some of the everyday problems that schools have today. A dress code in public schooling would be a good idea because it would reduce violence, the uniforms are more cheaper than regular clothes, and it should make the school more an academic atmosphere, and less of a social one.
In fact, a dress code should solve many problems including violence that occurs everyday in school. Also, there are fights in schools because of the way students dress; negative comments are often made at school and students about their classmates clothing which provokes fighting. Studies show that dress code reduces violence and makes students behave better because it makes everyone equal, bringing all of the students to the same level.
Nevertheless, the cost of maintaining a stylish wardrobe can be expensive. Many families have more important things to spend their money on. The dress code may be a way to keep costs of school down for the families. For example, in some schools there has even been fighting or stealing based on expensive sneakers or jewelry. There are many clothes in fashion for boys and girls, which are not appropriate for school dress. Take a step in their shoes, and see how it feels to get laughed at because of what they wear to school.
To tell the truth, most students in Long Beach also believe most students perform better academically because of the uniforms, so this should really make school more of an academic atmosphere. Students no longer get hassled by gang members because of clothes with rival colors. Also, help create a work-like atmosphere because students spend less time discussing wardrobes.
In conclusion, many students say they are against a dress code in public schooling because it eliminates self-expression, most of them would not mind it after they experienced it for a couple of weeks. I strongly agree that we should have uniforms in school because it reduces violence, and they are cheaper and it should make the school more of an academic atmosphere.
