Donepezil
It is a reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor which binds to peripheral anionic site not exerting only symptoms effect in the Alzheimer’s disease treatment. The drug is made by drug making companies (Eisai and Pfizer) with the trade mark Ariceft. Its main use is to treat from mild to normal Alzheimer’s disease. some studies have stated that donepezil has improved cognitive functions in patient of severe Alzheimer’s disease. The drug is found from 5 to 10 mg dose strength. And cure is usually started at 5 mg per day.
Rivastigmine
It is a slow reversible carbamate inhibitor which blocks cholinesterase activity by binding to the esteratic the side to the active site. It is not like donepezil because it inhibits both AChE and BuChE. Rivstigmine has got approval for the cure of Alzheimer’s disease from mild to moderate. The drug is taken …show more content…
The –X group, binds to the phosphorus atom via Sulphur or via oxygen, they may belong to broad types of halogen, heterocyclic groups. In medicinal or agricultural terminology, the word “organophosphates” refers to the insecticides group, and to nerve agents that inhibits Acetylcholinesterase.
The OPs exert their toxicological effect by nonreversible phosphorylation of esterases in the CNS (central nervous system).
