When people think of domestic violence they only imagine a person hitting another person. Its not only physical abuse though; it’s also emotional, sexual, psychological and can even be financial. “Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you” (Domestic Violence, n.d.). The abuser will do anything to get to you and will hurt anyone to gain control
Domestic violence can be categorized in many different ways. Saunders surveyed 165 abusive men to create typology on types of batterers. The three types that were found are: family only aggressors, generalized aggressors, and emotionally volatile aggressors.
