Difficulties In A Midsummer Night's Dream

The play"Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare is about four young Athenian lovers who were lost on a summer night in a forest ruled by fairies. Helena, Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia these four lovers ran away from Athens and enter in a land of fairies. The major theme is love, there is plenty of comedy as well if some are not interested in love. Another theme is friendship, most people will have experience that are shown in this play. Difficulties have you thinking in this theme for example is friendship stronger than love. This mischievous comedy about love draw's the children's love for each other. Shakespeare shows how women in the 16th century were negatively treated from society.
A conflict which occurs in this play is when Puck turns Bottoms head into an ass of a donkey. Puck mixes up the charm of Lysander and complicates a situation that is difficult already. Love has double-crossed itself. Puck puts the love potion on Lysander's eyes by accident, causing him to fall in love with Helena and abstain Hermia. In addition Demetrius falls for Helena. While in other places of the forest, Puck interferes with the workmen while they were rehearsing for the play. Puck decides to eavesdrop about needing a lion for the play. Puck leaves when bottom gets offstage and tests the casts imagination and reappears with bottom, who wears an asses head ."Sometimes a horse I'll be, sometime a hound, A hog, a

Helena assumes Hermia is also mocking her and violating the close friendship they had since childhood. The significance of Shakespeare using magic is to create struggle and rivalry between the Athenian lovers. He uses magic because it creates complications in the play for the four lovers, it helps extend the scene in creating both conflict and resolution.
