Analysis Of A Midsummer Night's Dream
I am Kaitlyn Luepann and I am portraying the fairy attendants Peaseblossom, Bottom, Cobweb, and the “jester fairy” Puck From William Shakespeare’s play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” I will be portraying all these characters as one character with characteristics of all four. The ways I am going to adapt the characters that I am portraying are for me to have a witty sense of humour, yet have common courtesy and manners, and have respectful body language and a humourous tone of voice because the three fairy attendants are very respectful, but Puck is humourous. How I adapt all of the fairies body language and tone of voice from the play to the modern day is to be a respectful Starbucks worker, who cracks jokes in a funny manner while customers

Lysander says this to Helena when he is in love with her while under the potion. This quote talks about how reason is an important factor when it comes to falling in love with a person, and I think this is true for the most part. Reason comes with maturity and maturity comes with experience. I really love this quote because although there is no need for me to be thinking of true love at my age it gives me a sense of how it’s going to feel when I do fall in love in the future.…

The first act of is the introduction to the main issue in the play. The opening scene is of Theseus and his future wife is talking about how excited they are to get married. The first scene follows the two to the court where they meet Egus, Hermia, Lysander and Demetrius all distressed and upset. The main act is basically about how Egus does not want his daughter to marry Lysander and wants to marry Hermia with a passion. However, Hermia’s father, Egus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius who is deeply in “love” with Hermia. But Hermia does not want anything to do with Demetrius. So, Shakespeare is setting up the conflict in the first act and also includes Lysander and Hermia’s plan to run away into the woods to escape Hermia’s nunnery or marriage sentence. However, Hermia makes the mistake by telling Helena her and Lysander’s plans. The second act is the set up of Quince organizing the play that him and a couple of men from the city are to perform at Theseus’ wedding to Hypolita. Quince divvies up the parts to all of the characters in the play, including a fairly egotistical future main character, Bottom.…

The craftsmen meet in the woods at the appointed time to rehearse their play. Since they will be performing in front of a large group of nobles (and since they have an exaggerated sense of the delicacy of noble ladies), Bottom declares that certain elements of the play must be changed. He fears that Pyramus's suicide and the lion's roaring will frighten the ladies and lead to the actors' executions. The other men share Bottom's concern, and they decide to write a prologue explaining that the lion is not really a lion nor the sword really a sword and assuring the ladies that no one will really die. They decide also that, to clarify the fact that the story takes place at night and that Pyramus and Thisbe are separated by a wall, one man must play the wall and another the moonlight by carrying a bush and a lantern.…

When Titania argues with Oberon about ownership of the Indian boy, their relationship is not only affected, but the society is affected negatively as well. The argument over the Indian boy causes major difficulties in the weather and seasons. Titania defying her gender role also causes problems because she is not obeying the demands of her husband whom she should. She “ha[s] forsworn his bed and company,” which means she rejects his bed and company and refuses to sleep with Oberon (2.1 64). “Am I not thy lord,” shows Oberon nonexistent love life and his enable to control his wife (2.1 65). She said the arguments are just “forgeries of jealousy,” meaning that Oberon is jealous about the ownership of the Indian boy, and his absent love life. She points out that,“never, since the middle summer spring,/ [have the fairies and Titania] met on a hill.../” to performed their usual dances because “thy brawls thou hast disturbe[s] our sport.” Before summer, Titania and her fairies would perform a “dance...to the whistling winds,” but since they cannot perform their harmonious dance, the seasons are now unpredictable. The arguments between Titania and Oberon have disturbed the ritual. Therefore, the winds are angry at the disturbances, so with vengeance, the winds “suck[s] up from the sea/ contagious fog,” which causes all the rivers to “overborne their continent.” As a result, “the ploughman lost his sweat, and the green corn/ hath rooted ere his youth attain[ing] a bread.” “Green corn” symbolizes immature grains “attaining a bread” which means the immature grains are rotting before they were are ripened. Because of the disagreement, “fold stand empty in the drownèd fields,” and “the quaint mazes in the wanton green lack treads,” which are “undistinguishable.” This means that the ingenious path in the luxuriant grass have faded away because no one is treading on…

Is it a dream or reality? The connection between the real world and a world created by our own vivid imagination while we sleep is somewhat uncanny. A plethora of individuals cannot fathom how the brain can create such realistic scenarios in such little time. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, the author uses his knowledge of dreams to create his play. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is not only the title of this play but the overall theme as well. In the story dreams bring many changes within the plot. Dreams change the opinion of characters and open their eyes to a different reality. A large connection between dreaming and theater is made at the end of the play in Puck’s famous final speech. Midsummer also plays a large role in the theme of this play as well. We will discuss all of these topics within the next few paragraphs.…

The significance of the title A Midsummer Night’s Dream is that there is a lot of supernatural intervention and effects in it. Infatuation is the state of being completely carried away by unreasoning passion or love. Infatuation is clearly displayed in the play, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, by William Shakespeare when four lovers go into the forest and fall under the spell of fairies. The fairies tamper with the lovers by putting them under spells causing them to be infatuated. The play portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta. The four young Athenians, Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander, and Helena and a group of amateur actors are manipulated by the fairies, Oberon, the king of the fairies, and Robin, Oberon’s servant. By looking at the tampered love between Helena and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius, and Bottom and Titania, the reader is able to understand how the misuse of magic causes chaos between the lovers.…

Magic was one of the most important elements in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Throughout the play, the use and misuse of magic brought about the most unusual and comical situations. Despite that the supernatural force of magic was not seen by the powerless human beings (Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius, Helena, Bottom, and the mechanicals), it controlled their thoughts and actions, and confused them throughout most of the play. Magic helped to resolve most of the conflicts of the play, therefore Shakespeare was implying that magic was a necessary element to make the characters happier and help them resolve their problems for a peaceful ending. The conflict that magic helped resolve were: when Oberon and Titania argued about the young boy, when Puck put the magical love juice on Lysander’s eyelids, and when Puck turned Bottom’s head into an ass’s head.…
