• The first step is ovarian stimulation. During this step, the woman takes medications to stimulate the growth and development of multiple eggs in her ovaries. The woman’s fertility specialist will monitor her throughout this process to determine the right time to retrieve the woman’s eggs. The ovarian stimulation takes into account the cost of fertility medications and monitoring appointments.
• The second step is egg retrieval. When the woman’s eggs are mature, she will visit her fertility specialist for the egg retrieval procedure. During this brief outpatient procedure, the woman will be lightly sedated while her physician retrieves her eggs. The cost of egg retrieval involves the cost of medical procedure and anesthesia.
• The third and final step is egg freezing or vitrification in the laboratory. Vitrification is a rapid freezing process that transforms the liquid inside of each egg into a solid state, which avoid potentially-damaging crystal formations. The cost laboratory services and vitrification are the costs associated with this step of egg
