Destery the Anteater
Destery the All Knowing Anteater
Once, there was an all knowing anteater named Destery. Destery was intelligent, powerful, brave, handsome, happy, and very lonely. So one dreary morning, Destery decided he was tired of always being alone and friendless. He decided that he was going to create other anteater friends. He created three anteater friends named Butters, Peaches, and Dante. They became best friends quickly. Now, Destery didn’t want his wonderful new friends to live in such a dull place. So he decided to work his magic. He wiggled his tongue, and created other animals, the beautiful blue sky, and so much more!
Destery’s favorite creation was Babybear Pond. Every day they would go to the pond, and look for caterpillars. They used to name them too. Destery and Peaches found two caterpillars and named them Terrance and Philip. Terrance and Philip were from Canada. Terrance and Philip were in a hurry. Terrance’s sister and Philips wife, Zelda, was hurt in the woods and needed their assistance as soon as possible. Destery felt terrible for the poor caterpillars. They both had a three day journey ahead of them. She was only about a mile away, but for a caterpillar, that’s a long walk. Destery decided he’d help them out and give them a ride on this back.
Destery didn’t think it was possible to have so much fun with Caterpillars! Terrance and Philip both had funny accents, since they were from Canada. Destery missed his friends a lot though. When the three friends finally found Zelda, she was cheating on Philip with his brother Tweak. See, Zelda wasn’t expecting Terrance and Philip to get to her so easily. She was expecting them to take longer. She had no idea that they had met Destery, and they’d be there in no time. Well poor Philip was distraught. He really loved Zelda. He was in more shock that his brother would do such a thing to him. He was angry, he ran up to his brother and punched him in the face, and ran off. While

This is my cat ‘‘Buttercup’’. You might wonder: Why that name? Well, when I founded him, it was unavoidable to match his muddy yellow coat with the bright flower. He had a mashed-in nose, half of one ear missing and eyes the color of rotting squash. According to my older sister, Katniss, Buttercup was the world’s ugliest cat but it did not matter, because I knew that in the bottom of her heart she was starting to love him. Besides, he was a great help at home, for he was a born mouser. So, we did not have vermin problems anymore. Furthermore, Buttercup was very special for me; he made me feel safe when I had nightmares during the…

Inevitably, what appears to be a simple plot, seemingly filled with mere trifles, the end of the play quickly develops into something that is almost surreal. Within a casual conversation the women, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, manage to recreate Minnie Wright’s state of mind - seemingly putting themselves through her last day in the farmhouse. In an article analyzing the play, Suzy Clarkson Holstein remarks that, “the play represents a profound conflict between two models of perception and behavior” (Holstein 282). On the whole, the men and women involved observed the identical information - with the exception of the canary. However, minus the canary, the women were already reconstructing Minnie’s life with John Wright. In their reconstruction they are able to uncover and comprehend evidence that would seem like useless information to the formal investigation the men were conducting. “The county attorney searching the Wrights’ home cannot detect the significance in a loaf of bread left out of the breadbox, a kitchen table half wiped, a quilt in progress, and a missing pet canary” (Marsh 201-02). These simple…
