The summer before entering my freshman year of high school was one of the most memorable and completely magical summers of my life due to the fact that my family and I went on an amazing vacation together. We all decided to take a wonderful two week vacation to Hawaii. We stayed on the beautiful island of Maui because my aunt decided to get married there. My aunt’s wedding was one reason we stayed on Maui but also because Maui is less populated with tourists then any of the other islands. There were many other things that made it amazing like the native people and the environment. My experience there was just really incredible for so many reasons and I can’t wait to go back. Although there were many reasons why this vacation was unbelievably incredible, I can only say a few. My trip to Hawaii was amazing because of the beautiful beaches, the weather, and my aunt’s wedding. The beaches in Maui were so beautiful because they weren’t crowded, and the sand was soft; the water was clear and blue. Walking onto the beach the sand beneath my feet was warm and soft. The sand was so soft it felt as if I were stepping on cotton. It was as if soft kittens were beneath my feet. Walking closer to the water I notice that the color was something that I have only seen on TV. The water was blue, and not just any blue. The color was so bright and vivid, when I saw it, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Not only was the water blue but it was also very clear. Swimming with my family, I could see our feet below us and little fish too. The fish were all different colors but all very cute. There were many fish of all types that made the ocean floors below me look like a rainbow underwater. They touched my feet, and I screamed because their scales scared me. I was there every day during my vacation, and saw hardly anyone. The beaches were never crowded so I always got a great spot to sit and didn’t run into very many people at all. It was rather peaceful just to have me and my family there on

The first beach we went to was so cool, it was the coolest beach I have ever seen. There was a lot of surfers there, they were all super good at surfing. We stayed and watched them surf for a while but what we weren’t noticing was the waves. My brother and I were on the sand and since we were looking at the surfers this huge wave comes and gets us entirely wet, which technically we got wet without haven’t even gotten in the water. We went to another beach after that and I was called Baby Beach. We got there and I practically noticed why it was called Baby Beach, there was literally little kids everywhere and the water was not even deep. We still got in but it wasn’t so fun, well obviously the water went deeper but there was a rope that was to say that “the water drops when you pass this.” We had a barbecue later on that night, with the entire family and it was yummy. There is nothing better than home cooked family meals. We were all tired so we went back the hotel and it was time to lay our heads on the pillows. The next day we practically spent the entire day sightseeing again and later that night it was time to head off back to Arizona. It sucked that we had to leave but it had to happen that way. The trip back seemed like it took longer than coming to…

I was exposed to Crossfit while I was stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany. Most people take a look at a posted workout or video, of elite Crossfit athletes and get intimidated or scared. They shouldn’t! The workouts that get posted to these sites are made for the more advanced, elite athletes. Crossfit is a new idea and like all new things, you either love it or you hate it. However, Crossfit brings something new to the table which is why many believe it is the better way of life and physical fitness. First, we will look at who started Crossfit and what it means. Then I will describe what the community is and lastly we will talk about competitions.…

The image of myself in the crevice of the sand underwater and the top layer of the ocean replays in my mind often. I can recall the moment’s features exactly. A few days later, my sister Andie told me how terrified she was seeing my head roll under the water in the distance. It is apparent to me that this is what big sisters are for, her timing really came in at the right moment to watch over me that day. I remember hearing Andie screaming as I fell in and out of consciousness “Mom take her! Mom! Take her!”. Andie had ripped me out of the water as the waves crashed over, throwing us into sharp coral on the shore. Every bash into the coral was a cut against our skin. We wrestled with the land. This end portion to me is all a blur. My sister handed me off to my mom and my haze of a nightmare experience was over.…

Every time I travel to the same place I always see it different each and every time. And every time I travel somewhere I tend to take my camera to capture the life each place has. And ever since I was little I always have been traveling to Hawaii and it's my favorite place of all times, I end up traveling 3-4 times each year to Hawaii. Hawaii is a very different place than California and that's what I like about each place, its different. Every time I visit, we go to the beach in the island of Oahu called Yokohama Beach or either to Ko’Olina and its amazing cause I’m with my family. The green mountains, lots of colorful flowers, coconut trees, the bright blue ocean and most of the sun. Unlike California, the weather is like bipolar and…

An apartment is a self contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. Apartments may be owned (by an owner/occupier) or rented (by tenants). My first apartment was located in Brooklyn in the Flatbush section. It was a small but very conveniently located third floor apartment in a elevator building. The building only had five floors with a see through glass lobby entrance. The building had a doorman that worked from four until midnight. He was a very pleasant middle aged gentleman with a carribean accent. The lobby had a sunken waiting area with black leather sofa and arm chairs that looked like they were bought in the 1960`s, but well maintained. When you came into the building in the evening you could smell the strong scents of all types of seasoning especially curry due to the Indian family living near the elevator. When riding the elevator up to my apartment it would shake from side to side and occasionally would hold someone captive until the elevator repairman came to get them out. My apartment was located on the third floor. It had a small foyer with a small closet to the left, a living room that measured 11 feet by 17 feet . It also had a very small kitchen that only one person could cook in at a time otherwise you would be constantly bumping into the other cook. Next to the small kitchen was a half size bathroom whose vanity mirror would steam up due to not having any windows or a proper working ventilation duct. When you came out the bathroom to your right was a small bedroom that you could only get a minimal amount of furniture in. Basically this apartment was in the shape of a box that was sectioned off into four areas. To make it into a home I started with the living room, I painted the walls chocolate brown and bought a sofa to match. The sofa was made of a furry material so I bought an orange chaise lounge to go with the sofa. I also bought earth tone curtains to mellow out the loud look of the orange chaise. I placed the orange chaise…

About five years ago I used to date this guy, whose mother loved to go to the casino. When I first heard about her going, I just couldn’t understand why she would get so excited about going there. She would come home and say how she had the best time and how she got so lucky. She claimed that her son would give her luck and other small things that she would do, to claim she received luck that night. I would just look at her; like, what is she talking about! I started dating him at the age of nineteen so at that time we were too young to go to the casino and play. When I turned twenty one his mother decided to take us to the casino with her.…

Hydroplane racing is the most amazing feeling in the world if you like the feeling of speed and the roaring sound of an engine behind you. My family is huge into racing and hydroplane boats are just one of them. Just stepping on to the smooth, glossy, deck of a freshly painted boat on a hot summer day sends shivers down my spine. There isn’t a better picture in my mind then a summer trip going to a boat race in a different state. The excitement of knowing you’re going to get out of the state, with all the last minute engine checks and making sure you’re not forgetting any tool you may think you will need before hitting the open road. The drive is always the best just relaxing lounging around in the R.V. and taking time to visualize the sounds, smells, course, and of course the people that you will be spending your next three days with. Nothing there but open water and the campers, roughing it in what we call the sticks of the summer with your good friends.…

My grandmother's house has a very special place in my heart. I lived with my grandmother for many years when I was little. Her house always seemed to have something about it that set it apart from all the rest. When walking in the front door of her house, there is a stairway as long as the Red River. It leads to the main hallway of the house. The strong smell of cigarette smoke would tickle my nose by the time I made it to the hallway.…

Hurricane Sandy left a lot of desvesation and distruction not only in New Jersey but in the Tri- State and surrounding areas. the storm left many without power, homeless, long lines for gas and destoyed many homes and businesses.…
