Department Store Observation
In a well-populated urban area, there is a rather busy intersection. To the left, there is a plaza that has been remodeled in which a new department store has been added. As I approached the department store, I noted that it was rather warm outside; I had arrived about 4:20 p.m. and this weather was normal for the time of day. I inferred that it there would be a sale; it was the Wednesday after Labor Day and most stores had sales during the holiday. However, there was no indication on the windows or within the store about any sales. There seemed to be a lot of cars outside, but as I entered the store, there were very little people. To conduct my observation, I sat at the very front of the store near the door. This gave me a limited view,

The two stores’ atmospheres that I will compare in this paper will be J.C. Penney and Kohl’s. Both stores are very similar in every aspect. They are both retailers that offer a variety of goods, such as apparel, shoes, and accessories for women, children and men, and home products such as small electronics, kitchen electrics, electric shavers, toothbrushes, vacuums & floor care, bedding, toys, and luggage. Basically anything you would ever need to survive except for food is offered at both of these retailers.…

As seen in the video, criminals stealing hard drives from commercial establishments is becoming more common and holds the opportunity for criminals to steal hundreds of individuals’ credit and debit card information. This growing trend puts the consumer at risk for extra charges on their credit and debit cards as well as identify theft. What is even more surprising is that consumers are unaware of the true risks that are involved in using their card at terminals in stores. Moreover, even though businesses are to swipe the hard drives clean each day, many are failing to complete this proper procedure to prevent consumer’s stolen information. To add, where the consumer’s information was compromised is not made available to the consumer.…

King of Prussia mall is located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. I have attended this mall many times before. I decided to do my observations on a Saturday because I assumed the mall would have a high frequency of people, which in turn would make my paper better. King of Prussia mall has neutral colors from top to bottom. Tan white stone decorates the floors, the walls, and part of the ceiling.…

They might even notice the two gentleman who flip houses together that walk so close to each other that they hand lightly brush against each as they walk indicating they are very comfortable with each other. This observation is simply the face of the clock and does not reveal what really make this store tick, it is necessary to really take it apart to understand this store.…

For my report I chose the shop Pier 1 Imports, I have never heard about this shop before which shows that they have weak marketing strategy. So the reason of having gone to the Pier 1 Imports was actually a gift card presented to my parents. I would like to emphasize here that the gift card is a reason to make a purchase even if you don’t have intentions to buy anything. Another very interesting characteristic of the gift card, which not many people are aware of, is that the amount you are going to spend is much higher than the actual value of your gift card. We had $100 on our gift card but spent $200; because of the human nature we always tend to want more. And it is impossible not to buy something in Pier 1…

A review of relevant research reveals studies dating back to the early 1970s that focus on facility-based environmental cues, or atmospherics, and their effect on shopper attitude and decision modeling. However, inadequately explored is the specific effect that storefronts and retail exteriors have on shopper choice. Through the use of cross-sectional consumer surveys, this study will measure the importance of storefront appearance on retail patronage, as well as rank aspects of retail exteriors as they relate to shopper selection and loyalty. In addition to measuring the importance of storefront appearance, this article will determine how to prioritize physical aspects of retail facades that make the greatest impact on shopper approach behavior.…

The shoppers are trying to concentrate on the clothing, instead of the situation that is brewing right in front of them; this portrays the bystander effect. When the ladies stepped out of the store, the camera crew asked them why they didn't stand up for the girl. They replied, “I felt sorry for the girl, but I wouldn't have gotten involved because it was none of my business, and I didn't know her.” “Shopping While Black” is a term now used by researchers because this is so common and happens so frequently. Sixty percent of Americans say that they have experienced this kind of harassment from afar. As the shopping day continues, a hundred shoppers have seen this scenario, while only twenty shoppers stepped in to help.…

A grocery store is probably not the first place most people associate with entertaining stories, but in my family, there have been quite a few tales that revolve around our local Kroger. For instance, hearing my sister, Mary Jean, recount the loss of her beloved parking space when Kroger built their gas station has been the cause of much hilarity. Approximately two years ago, Mary Jean and I went to Kroger for just a few items, and found the place teeming with other shoppers. The holidays were approaching, so the lines were four or five shoppers long and more than a few of them had carts that were almost overflowing. The overhead lights were noticeably bright, compared to the overcast sky outside, and all…
