Dear Host Family
Dear host family,
First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I’m really excited about the idea of spending a year in the US, and getting to know more than just articles about the Americans lifestyle by living with you as a member of your family. By this letter, I’ll try as much as possible to describe my family, my friends, my life, and of course myself in a way that you’ll get closer to my life.
My name is Imane Kassab; I’m a 16 years old girl and I live in Meknes, one of the biggest cities in Morocco. I’m attending the 11th grade in Reference high school. It’s 20 minutes away from where I live, so I take a bus or a taxi. My school is very spacious and clean. Plus, the students and the teachers there are really polite, friendly, and respectful. My favorite subjects are sport, art, music, religion, French, English, math and of course Science.
Coming to my family’s background, there is 4 members including me. My father, Driss (43) is an engineer in Lafarge, a cement factory, and now, he’s working overseas with the same company. My mom, Kettou (43) is a teacher in the same secondary school where my sister, Meryem (14), study in. We are a balanced family. The relationship with my parents is deep and precious, because I love them above all and they love me above everything. Same with my sister. We get along very well. All my family lives together in a house with a big garden. There is a swimming pool and a basket field nears us, so all the neighbors gather there and play together. In my spare time I do like read novels in French, Arabic, and also in English. Besides that, I like going to the gym swimming and doing exercises. I really can relax there.
It’s very considerable for me to have the chance to live a year in the U.S. Because I think that going to the USA is exiting. The culture, the lifestyle, the landscapes, the people, the high school, just everything! I have seen so many in movies, reports, newspapers and magazines,

Living in New York is a breath of fresh air, and all its conveniences have been cool as a cucumber in my experience. I extracted the two major points from my brainstorm. Points being: I was not straight as a line and I love my parents very much. I incorporated these points in my letter. Spanish had been my parent's primary language, therefore; it was potent that my letter was in Spanish as well. At the time, I was illiterate in Spanish and struggled to spell and form sentences correctly. Because of the anxiety, I had my Spanish teacher’s or other family members’ reactions, I could not go to them for help. I went through a profuse amount of rough…

The year might not have been perfect, but it was my best year so far. My experience in America had transformed me from a spoiled child to a young adult with a broader and more positive insight on the…

    Favourite Day

I live with my grandmother in Bentong, whereas my parents live and work in Kuala Lumpur. They usually come home to see us once or twice a month. If they manage to get away, it will be on the weekend, usually arriving very late on Friday night. So, Saturday is my favorite day of the week for that is the day I get to see my parents. It is a joyful feeling just to know that my parents are in the house and sleeping in their room. I know that my father will be very tired, after driving all the way home after a demanding day at work. So, I keep very quiet, allowing them to get all the rest they need. My mother usually wakes up first. "Where is my big girl?" is her usual greeting, followed by warm hugs and kisses. I will make her a cup of black coffee, just the way she likes it, and we will sit on the balcony, sharing our experiences since we last met. This is my favorite part of the day, pouring out my heart to my Mum, my closest confidante. When my father finally wakes up, we go out for breakfast. It is usually dim sum, my father's favorite breakfast food. This is a jolly family time. My father's jokes never fail to make us roar with laughter. Sometimes, my grandmother will tell my parents the news concerning our other relatives, including their illnesses or the bad behavior. My father will comfort her and try to encourage her to be patient and happy. When my grandmother gets into this mood, I cringe inside because I wonder whether she will mention my misdeeds. Fortunately, my parents are both understanding, and try to keep our breakfast a light-hearted occasion. My father has two sisters in Bentong, and we usually go to his elder sister's house after breakfast. His younger sister's family will also drop over, if they are free. While the older folk chat in the living room, we usually go out to the orchard and relax under the trees. My aunt and grandmother will cook up a storm in the kitchen. They are excellent cooks, and, somehow, we…
