Favourite Day
My favorite day of the work | | I live with my grandmother in Bentong, whereas my parents live and work in Kuala Lumpur. They usually come home to see us once or twice a month. If they manage to get away, it will be on the weekend, usually arriving very late on Friday night. So, Saturday is my favorite day of the week for that is the day I get to see my parents. It is a joyful feeling just to know that my parents are in the house and sleeping in their room. I know that my father will be very tired, after driving all the way home after a demanding day at work. So, I keep very quiet, allowing them to get all the rest they need. My mother usually wakes up first. "Where is my big girl?" is her usual greeting, followed by warm hugs and kisses. I will make her a cup of black coffee, just the way she likes it, and we will sit on the balcony, sharing our experiences since we last met. This is my favorite part of the day, pouring out my heart to my Mum, my closest confidante. When my father finally wakes up, we go out for breakfast. It is usually dim sum, my father's favorite breakfast food. This is a jolly family time. My father's jokes never fail to make us roar with laughter. Sometimes, my grandmother will tell my parents the news concerning our other relatives, including their illnesses or the bad behavior. My father will comfort her and try to encourage her to be patient and happy. When my grandmother gets into this mood, I cringe inside because I wonder whether she will mention my misdeeds. Fortunately, my parents are both understanding, and try to keep our breakfast a light-hearted occasion. My father has two sisters in Bentong, and we usually go to his elder sister's house after breakfast. His younger sister's family will also drop over, if they are free. While the older folk chat in the living room, we usually go out to the orchard and relax under the trees. My aunt and grandmother will cook up a storm in the kitchen. They are excellent cooks, and, somehow, we

    Marital Paradigm

I grew up in a joint family in India, which had 3 married couple and their kids. Marital relationships that I saw in my family were not great but not bad either. All the men used to work in the family business and the women used to take care of the children and the house. Many times my parents used to fight and my dad used to scream at my mom, but my mom never had the guts to say anything to him. I always saw that my mom was scared of him and I used to question myself why doesn’t she reply back. And being a girl myself I used to think that probably girls cant say anything when theirs husband are screaming at them. I used to talk to my mom and tell her why cant she reply back, but I never really got an answer. I always saw my mom as the weaker one in the relationship. On the other hand we had a family friend and both husband wife used to work as college professors. In their house the husband never screamed at the wife, I am sure they had conflicts but you could totally see the respect that he gave to his wife. When I grew a little bit older my mom started telling me how she felt. That was when she told me that she was a housewife and my dad was the one who earned in the family and thus he could talk like that to my mom. My dad always dominated her as he is the man of the family and is the one responsible for all the decisions of the family. And this was not only my parents I 4saw this trend throughout my family with the other two couples as well.…

The influences of my family and my life at home have shaped me into the person I am today. My family, consisting of my mother, my father, and two sisters, has not always been one hundred percent functional. Just like any other family, there have been arguments that tear us apart. As a child, the attention that had to be shared between my sisters and I was not always given equally. Even today, the same distribution of attention and affection is not equally given to us. The attention seems to go from my oldest sister, with her problems in school and with life; to the youngest, with her excelling work in her education and sports. My parents don’t seem to realize sometimes that I too am excelling in school, out shining my younger sisters sometimes. The attention I need for the achievements I obtain is usually never met. Being the oldest of four girls and one boy is difficult at times. Because even though I am expected to learn from the oldest and teach the youngest, I am not really given full responsibility for much.…

    Best Days of My Life

The best childhood place I would have to say is Phillip Island for me and still is my favourite place. There is this church that takes people out to fun camps each year for five days which my parents, best friend Dion and I have gone for as long as I could remember. The place we stayed at was a two story old, haunted looking building, it had long hallway that echoed every time you made any noise, a massive dinning room that could fit at least one hundred and fifty people in it and it sometimes did. There is a lounge room upstairs that had a piano that was always being smashed by kids and it has the most comfortable couches I have ever sat on in my life, once you sit on it, it sucks you in like quicksand and to get up you'd need some help. Every morning all the, what we call church leaders and some others would gather to the lounge room and sing songs and do stuff they'd do in church. Outside there is a theatre room that was used on the last night of the camp, for plays people thought up during their time at camp. There was a pond that had big fat goldfishes, I remember falling into that dirty pond water back when I was a clumsy child. There was playground that had slides, swings and a boat, being young kids my friends and I used our imagination to the limit and thought we'd be able to fix up that boat and sail it back to Melbourne all by ourselves. Everyday the leaders would make call outs to beaches, the best beach I remember going to was called Woolamai, and every time we would go to the beach, everyone wanted to go there because it was the perfect beach, no sharp shells or rocks, no slimy seaweed and big waves.…

The most memorable day of my life was, September 4, 1995 in Chicago, IL. It was 6:00 a.m. when my alarm clock woke me up. The first day of high school was finally here. I was excited, but a lot more nervous. I got out of bed, got ready, and then was on my way to the bus stop. All I could think of is the stories I heard about high school being so horrible with all the mean teachers, the hard tests, and of course being a freshman does not help either. The bus ride to the school was only 30 minutes, but it seemed a lot longer. When we finally got there, I was more nervous than ever. The day ahead of me was about to get a lot more complicated or the start of something great.…

That s why I and my siblings really love her she’s our living hero. For me having my mother is the luckiest thing that I had. Even though there is many times that we are having an argument. She loves cooking foods on her own, and making her own recipes. She loves spending her time cleaning the house as always, reading books and teaching my little sister her lessons. If my mom was a food I can tell that she’s the most special one. She’s one of a kind and for me she’s the most unique and delicious food that I’ve ever tasted. And if my mom was a student, she…

    1. One of my favorite Holidays is 4th of July. A few years ago my dad and I went to Washington to pick out some illegal fireworks. So we went to the Black Cat firework store . I got some mortars and roman candles and all the fun fireworks you could think of. So the day before 4th of July we were lighting off a few roman candles and all of a sudden a under cover police car pulled into our driveway and the police officer inside the car said “are you lighting off illegal fireworks?” because he saw me with the roman candles, and my dad said “yes” so the police officer confiscated all the fireworks we had bought and were fined a thousand dollars. We did get our ticket reduced down to $250 because we attended a fire works class. This definitely opened my eyes to the danger of fire works. From that day forward, I’ve learned not to do anything your not supposed to do, like buy illegal fireworks.…
