 If current caring conductor is placed in magnetic field then a force is generated on current caring conductor.

F = BIL. Sinθ
If all three B and L are Perpendicular to each other, then
F = BIL
 If a conductor is moving in magnetic field then an EMF is generated in a conductor .
E = BVL. Sinθ
E = BVL

If B is Perpendicular to V

Basic Principles
 For magnetic field density (B):
1. Magnetic Fields:
 Direction of Field: North  South

2. Electro Magnetic Fields:

- Current caring conductor produces magnetic field around conductor.

Four pole DC Machine

Yoke
Position :
 Outermost cover of the d.c. machine
Functions:
 It provides mechanical supports to the poles
 It provides protection from harmful atmospheric elements like moisture, dust & various gas like SO2,acidic fumes etc. to d.c. machine  It provides low reluctance path to magnetic flux
Material:
 It is prepared by using cast iron because it is cheapest.
 For large machines cast steel, silicon steel is used which provides high permeability.

The audit memorandum also provides a clear explanation of a difference between the risk premium in discounting the free cash flow from Plant 3 and the risk premium in discounting the cash flows for the Macinaw Division and which of the appropriate discount rate for computation of goodwill impairment. The case mentioned about impairments which will be written down after the assets are tested for impairments and how the impairment loss will be allocated among group of assets. The audit memo gives the answer about whether long-lived asset or goodwill write-downs due to impartment or write-ups if the fair value subsequently increases.…

    Although a far greater percentage of the electrical machines in service are a.c. Machines, the D.C. machines are of considerable industrial importance. The principal advantage of the D.C. machine, particularly the D.C. motor, is that it provides a fine control of speed. Such an advantage is not claimed by any a.c. motor. However, D.C. generators are not as common as they used to be, because direct current, when required, is mainly obtained from an a.c. supply by the use of rectifiers. Nevertheless, an understanding of D.C. generator is important because it represents a logical introduction to the behavior of D.C. motors. Indeed many D.C. motors in industry actually operate as D.C. generators for a brief period. In this chapter, we shall deal with various aspects of D.C. Generators.…

    Given the ever-rising cost of gasoline, many people have turned to alternative fuels to power their vehicles, one of which is diesel. Due to this change, more and more diesel-powered vehicles are being bought and sold every day. Diesel engines are very efficient, in fact, much more efficient than gasoline engines. They are the backbone of the transportation throughout the United States, and the world. They power everything from compact cars to locomotives to massive sea barges. Diesel power figuratively makes the world turn.In order to better understand the success of today’s diesel engine, one must first look at the origin of the diesel engine. Rudolf Diesel was born in Paris, France on March 18, 1858 to German parents. He was an extremely good student in primary school, and at the age of 12 he was admitted to the Ecole Primaire Superiore, which was then regarded as the best school in Paris. After he graduated from school, he was employed for two years as a machinist and designer in Winterthur, Switzerland. He eventually returned to Paris, where he became a connoisseur of fine arts. In 1885, he set up his first shop laboratory in Paris, so that he could begin full time work on his engine.…
