Narrative Essay

Dating Your Best Friend I have a boyfriend who I have been dating for 7 months now; we started out on February 12, 2011. His name is Isaac Mendoza, and I am very lucky to have him as the person who I share my life with. Why? We have known each other since we were six years old. He has been my best friend since then and we literally know everything there is to know about each other, the good things and also the unfortunate bad things. So that whole “dating your best friend” is not an issue for me. I ask myself sometimes why now and not then, I think this was how it was meant to be the whole time. We met in first grade and became real good friends right from the start. I remember playing a lot together with our friends. We also lived just across the street from each other so imagine, seeing each other at school and after school play even more outside after our homework was done, it was a great way of spending time together. Unfortunately after first grade, we somehow had to go to different schools, but we still got together after school and played together. It wasn’t until after 4th grade that I moved to a new neighborhood and didn’t see him again until 8th grade. We saw each other and recognized one another and again we became inseparable. We had a few classes together and we were always partners whenever we were assigned to grab a partner. Also that same school year, all the rumors started; that we liked each other, we were going to end up going out, we were always together and so on. I did think about it but we were just fourteen year olds who had no age and no intention of dating. We were the best of friends in middle school and kept going strong. Our high school years came real quick as we kept on growing up together and watching each other blossom into young adults. We were still the best friends ever, and the same rumors still kept going around. We somehow managed to

even witty. Smelled like cigarettes, probably since he also took up smoking since 14 years old, the stress of living in Yokeman can do that to you. At first he hung with out with us, and over time... he started keeping his distance. Then, half a year before graduation he just disappeared. Ryan dropped out of school, not even keeping contact with anyone. It was rumored that his family moved out of state, but at that point I thought he was the luckiest man alive to get out of this place. I used to catch him trying to make eye contact with me, but would turn his head away the moment my eyes look back at him, or he notices the moment I turn my head around he faces the ground or elsewhere assuming I didn’t notice him checking me out. Perhaps…

This was supposed to be where my dad was going to retire and where he said we were going to stay forever, this meant no more changing schools and no more starting over, I was ecstatic. My best friend in Virginia was a girl named Amanda who I referred to as Manda Panda. She had long, straight brown hair. Her body was built like a boy’s, her shoulders wide, her torso long. Our minds were identical, we could finish each others sentences, knew what each other was thinking without even speaking and very frequently would come home from shopping with our parents with the same items. We were your typical giggly, boy crazy girls. She was my favorite person in the world. When I moved to Virginia it was around the end of my fifth grade year, Amanda and I were extremely lucky to be in most of the same classes and we were inseparable in and out of school. My dad eventually retired after almost five years of us living in Virginia however, he decided that he wanted to move one more time. I was devastated. My parents promised me we wouldn’t move anymore, having to continually start over was rough for me. Being the new kid and the awkwardness of not knowing anyone, learning a new school and leaving behind your friends was supposed to be over. I became…

Mans bestfriend is often used to describe our relationship with our pets, more specifically our dogs. Late last night my 15 year old chocolate Labrador pasted away, and shortly after his passing these two word came to me. However, I didn't welcome them with open arms. As I reflected on the many memories I had with him I thought to myself that this dog was never my friend... He was my FAMILY! You see I can't chalk up our 15 year relationship as a friendship, because that would be the biggest lie I've ever told myself. I loved this dog from the bottom of my heart and I know deep down there is nothing to fill the void I…

We've been inseparable ever since kindergarten and now I have to live without him. We were all each other ever needed. We told each other everything, went everywhere together, and I'm the only one he allowed to call him "Sammy". Wherever I was, you can bet that Sam wasn't too far behind and vise versa. We were so much alike, our moms used to joke about us being the same person.…

He was just one year younger than me and his name was Santiago. Santiago expressed himself which I got jealous of because I was still shy on talking to people and getting to know them better. He really didn’t care what other people think and talked about things he knew or what talents he got. Till this day I still admire him for that. On those times I was a total jerk to him which I regret so much because when the years pass more and more he shuts his doors of trust in front of me. He became a very talented piano player and right next to him is the bass player, me, trying to catch up to him.…

During our junior year of high school, I noticed Ramon was acting strange and his perception on life was so negative. I did what any best friend would do at the time and tried cheering him up and asking him what was wrong. Unfortunately I didn’t receive a response for several months. I didn’t give up on him though; I continued to do everything possible to see my friend smile. Without his happiness, I wasn’t completely happy. Everyday during school I was with him, it was rare to see one of us without the other. After school, we would attend the same club meetings and I would wait until someone picked him up before I left home. As soon as I got home, I would text him and we would text all afternoon until we went to bed. I did this for several months and to my enjoyment I saw his morale improve. Obviously it wasn’t close to normal, but it was enough to at least see his smile for a moment.…

We didn't hang out much over the summer, we didn't have a way to talk, me doing summer orchestra and you doing summer gym. When we came back for seventh grade I remember we were so happy to see each other, but we had totally different schedules. We were locker partners though, and we would write letters to each other constantly. We'd leave them in the locker and we'd giggle as we left them and then ran on to our next…

Summer 2010 was great for me. I did a lot of stuff this summer and hung out with a lot of friends but the highlight was riding to Wasco every Saturday morning. I would meet up with Chris Impson and we would usually hang out for the whole day. I live in St. Charles so I would have a 8 mile ride down there and sometimes we would ride bikes all the way back to my house so it was quite the work out. Other days I would ride my bike to Wasco and meet up with Christopher then ride to another friends house and spend the day there. I am really satisfied with the way my summer went. I did more than just saw friends though, I went to Wisconsin, spent a week in Missouri by myself, and rode dirt bikes on our farm. While I was in Missouri I did a lot like help my Grandpa out and played a lot of baseball.…

I was in the sixth grade when I first met my best friend Jamilex. Jamilex and I were really close, we did everything together; our homework, went to the movies, hung out in the park, and often went her house where we had conversations about guys. We tried to spend time together as often as possible, because we didn't see each other during school hours since she attended a different junior High school. We saw each other every day after school to do homework together. I never thought I would finally meet a true friend but you know what they say, "Never say Never". I tried to do my best to keep her happy and be there for her when she needed a shoulder to cry on. Jamilex and I were so different but at the same time so alike. Her favorite color…

We met on a rainy day at recess when the other kids were bullying me. I was being kicked around like a hacky sack not knowing what was happening. After I finally got loose I ran to somewhere safe and the next thing I saw was him, Simon. When he saw me crying, he brought the joy back to me. He said encouraging stuff, like “You do know that the only reason they are bullying you is because they have been bullied themselves. If you ignore them for some quite time they will forget all about you. Hey, why don’t you spend lunch with me tomorrow?” Me slowly lifting me head said “sure.” That day forward I spent every day eating lunch with him, laughing and having a great time. Every day was a new adventure with him not knowing what was going to come next.…
