Cultural “Beliefs” Corrupts Society In this society, everyone is being judged for the way they look, act, or their beliefs. There is always a certain way to “look” to fit in with people. That’s where ethnocentrism takes over. Ethnocentrism is the belief in the inherit superiority of one’s own ethnic group or culture (Dictionary.com). It is passing negative moral judgments on how ethnic others organize their lives. It is a destructive attitude where it tears people apart and changes people to who they are not ought to be. We have heard of many superior rulers who actually corrupt the society, because it does not fit the rulers’ standards. As some culture have their ethnocentrism leader, who makes every decision. The people under the ruling have no freedom for who they want to be. They have to be what the leaders describe to be classified as “perfection”. Having unlimited ruling power leads to a corrupted world. Adolf Hitler was the leader of the Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. During his ruling, he oversaw fascist policies that resulted millions of deaths. Hitler and his Nazi followers thought they were better than the Jewish people, as well as other group of people, and had many innocent people slaughtered in concentration camp (Sinatra). He gave no knowledge to anyone who wasn’t a Nazi follower. He judged other groups to be lower than dirt not only did Hitler have hatred towards Jewish, he was racial against certain hygiene. Hitler only favored blonde hair blue eye people. Anyone else had to be sent to concentration camp, and sooner or later died (biography.com). Because of his ethnocentric ways of ruling, it led to a terrifying death of between eleven to fourteen million innocent people, that’s including the six million Jewish people’s death (Sinatra). Zora Neale Hurston’s literature, “Their Eyes Were Watching God”, is another great example of an inherit superior of one’s ethnic group or culture.     In the year of 1933, Adolf Hitler took power and the holocaust occurred. The vigorous dictator had a set of ideas and goals that took place across Europe. Hitler’s ideologies consisted of Germany and Austria having superiority over the Jewish population, whom were accused for all the issues Germany faced. Hitler “believed that only by waging a war of conquest against Russia could the German nation gain the living space and security it required and, as a superior race, deserved,” (Sources,369).
