Creative Writing: Ramone's Baby
“My turn!” Dmitri said as he grabbed Ramone with one hand by the throat. I ran up to stop him from choking Ramone, but he used his free hand to swat me away like a fly. Instead I went flying into the ship at tremendous speed. I could feel the wind get knocked out of me. My vision darkened at that time, but before I could go completely, Jenna was there at my side, with Mia holding Ramone’s baby, and my baby.
“It’s not over.” Said Jenna.
“We can’t hurt him, it’s like he’s become one with the land.”
Mia gave Jenna my son, and then gave me Ramone’s baby. “The blanket Pundik.”
I looked down at the baby. He had a strange look in his eye, almost a look of determination or something. He must have wanted me to take it. I told them to get back to

I could see someone standing beside me now. It was Lin! Or someone who looked like her at least. I was in shock now, for I had seen her dead, lifeless body, how could this be.
She took the Blood Blanket and wrapped it around my hand. I could feel the heat of the blanket intensify, then my hand was cool and the Blood Blanket was no longer a blanket but a gauntlet!
“Save my boy. He will save this place one day.”
I was back in the present, stunned but aware of my mission now. The Blood Gauntlet still on my hand, I charged at Dmitri. He saw me coming, and this time he didn’t bother to swat me away. I jumped off the ground and with a great deathly roar I slammed my fist into my evil brother. He was sent flying, far enough that his men, who had retreated closer to the ruins of Holland’s town, were struck by him. Ramone was tossed aside as well, but didn’t go as far. I ordered Caslin to help him, and I went after Dmitri.
His men were flung into the blazing inferno of the village, but Dmitri wasn’t affected by the blaze. He only looked at me with a defeated look on his face. He said, “I will haunt you and your boys for the rest of your days brother. I am one with this land now. It’s mine. I am the master of the Condemned

My division was stationed in Normandy, France, at the time of the Allied invasion on June 6, 1944. Toward the end of August or early September, Canadian troops captured me near Dieppe.10 I was with a small group of men who were cut off from our main company and overrun by motorized Allied units. For several days we wandered around searching for our unit, until one night we strayed into a field camp of Canadian soldiers. You can well imagine the astonishment all around when we suddenly appeared in their midst. The Canadians didn’t have a guard posted. This was probably better for all because otherwise we might have exchanged gunfire. Instead, we peacefully turned over our weapons and in return received cigarettes.…

We reached The Dalles today. This is our last stop to Oregon city and this is going to be the most dangerous part of the whole trip. We have to take the Barlow Road around Mt. Hood. The road is very messy. There are big rocks guarding the road. Sticks and broken wagon pieces are getting stuck in the wagons. On top of that, everyone is getting sick and have no energy to move the wagon and walk up the steep hill and walking through the narrow paths are hard because we can't walk on the side to hold the wagon up. The oxen are getting too tired to walk anywhere and the other families with mules keep stopping and that makes us run behind on schedule. Many people are dying because they have worked too much and haven't gotten enough sleep. When we…

We have explored a variety of writing styles with food as the central theme throughout. My first essay was an ode to steak, which took you through all the senses from the hint of smell to the first savory bite. The second essay was a deconstruction of meatballs and how my first true cooking experience came about. Next was an essay on the adventures of Chinese cuisine and the garlic phenomenon. The last essay was to capture and critique a moment shared with lobster. I am proud of all my essays. If I must choose a favorite; then I select “No Ordinary Meatballs”. The essays on steak, Chinese cuisine, and lobster were all experience-based accounts. These were unique accounts, which were sought out, in one form or another. However, my meatballs…

It was May, her chest heaving, her hands coated in the blackened blood. The acrid stench of burning flesh now filling my nostrils. With each breath, she whimpered slightly, even though she was evidently unconscious. Her face like mine had been riddled with slits and cuts from some sort of shrapnel. And one eye was swollen and purple to the point of making my stomach turn. She suddenly gasped and grabbed my wrist. I jerked in surprise as the grip tightened sending throbbing pain up my already bruised arm.…

Optics flickered towards the west a smile drawing itself upon the lips of the male. He adored moons such as this, known readily in the ancient world as the harvest or wolf moon, the circular orb in the sky shown such as this only twice per year; once in the spring and once in the fall during the equinox consisting of exactly 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. Such moons were both a blessing and a curse, for though they granted better light in which to hunt by it also meant the prey was able to see the predator with increased ease as there were fewer shadows in which to stalk. But it did not matter for this turn of the tables would only last so long before it moved in favor of the predator once again. When the moon was…
