In response to the NTU Campus Recruitment Talk on 17 Sep 2009, I am writing to express my interest in an Engineering position at ExxonMobil. I believe my dynamic personality and diverse education in engineering as well as business & finance complement well with the environment at ExxonMobil which values team work, leadership qualities and adaptability to exciting opportunities in job rotations. My completion of a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in July 2010, and previous work experience at A*STAR Exploit Technologies (ETPL) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will serve me well in the position sought.
My course of study at NTU has provided me with a robust training that uniquely combines Chemical Engineering with the life sciences, positioning me well for work with oil & gas as well as next-generation biofuels undertaken by ExxonMobil. The core modules have, for instance, imparted a good understanding of process design and control, and helped to develop strong analytical and conceptual skills in me. This is augmented by my knowledge of petroleum refining and relevant safety issues that have been sharpened with the undertaking of specialized modules in the final year of my course.
Besides my course in engineering, I have also completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University in 2008 through part-time studies, and am in the midst of pursuing the ACCA Qualification. My training in business & finance was further built upon during my past internship experience at ETPL, having been attached to the division responsible for commercializing A*STAR biomedical technologies.
