Smacking Is a Useful Way of Teaching

Smacking, which is a common method used by parents or teachers to deal with naughty child, is believed a kind of corporal punishment that some people don’t believe it a good way to educate child. Really, smacking as a corporal punishment will make some pains to child, but it did not lead to the damage of child. Obviously, smacking is not a serious measure to educate child who can tolerant it. So I believe that smacking is really an acceptable way to discipline children to change their bad habits and wrong actions which are always not corrected after educated with elder.

At first, suitable punishment like smacking should be used when child makes a mistake or be naughty. As children, they do not have enough experience and ability to charge the right and wrong. So they may often make mistakes that they cannot realize. Of course, parents can forgive them in some unimportant things. On the contrary, if children make the vital mistake or be always unchanged after many educating, they must be responsible for what they do. It is a kind of responsibility.

Next, smacking is a good approach that can help child realize their wrong actions without serious bodily injury. As a rule, educating is a moderate and reasonable way to resolve the problems which children make. But it is often found that children will do these again after educated because they do not realize the wrong correctly. So smacking is needed that can rapidly, directly and effectively resolve these with some pains.

Finally, smacking as a light punishment of corporal punishment does not make the strong conflict between parents and children. People worried about child abuse which can lead to contradiction oppose smacking because of its harmfulness. However, the conflict is engendered from serious assault which can result in damage of body. Obviously, smacking cannot do this.

In conclusion, smacking is really an effective method to help children look out their wrongs and correct them. What’s more, smacking can remind children that they must be paid for what they do without strong conflict. Obviously, sometimes it is necessary that parents should use some special punishment to teach children.

Simple physical punishments; such as pinching, flicking, and spanking, are carried out on us at a very young age, and all throughout life. Our parents are here to discipline us, to teach us the difference of right and wrong. When we first misbehave, our parents might tell us to “knock it off” or “stop” and they may raise their voice when asserting these commands. We sometimes stop when told to, but sometimes we ignore their commands and keep misbehaving repeatedly. This is where physical punishment comes into play. A form of physical punishment would and will be carried out on us. At first it may be a simple punishment, but gradually the punishments intensify. Once a punishment has been carried out, many of us become cloaked in fear of punishment and from this fear we learn not to do that mistake again. Simple punishment is used for the good of children and to discipline them, “Dr. David Safir, father of five and grandfather of five, CNN asked him to talk to us about his views on spanking. He said he was spanked as a child, spanked his own children when necessary and believes the occasional use of physical punishment -- not abuse -- can be an effective tool for parents” (Zeidler) If these simple punishments are executed out…

Children cannot possibly benefit from “discipline” in the form of punishment. Simply put, punishment is disrespectful treatment of a child that will result short-term cooperation but further behavior problems long-term. No child should have to endure such negative modification methods intended to humiliate them with a goal of teaching appropriate behavior. Sadly, however, some adults think they are doing what is best for the child. But what can a child possibly learn from hearing a parent say, “If you hit your brother one more time, I'm gonna spank you!” The child interprets that message as “if I hit him, then you're going to hit me.” There is no valuable lesson…

Few parents agree that corporal punishment is a type of child abuse. When used properly and in the correct circumstances, spanking can be an effective form of punishment. A spanking that is received when a parent is calm, rather than when the parent is angry and quick to action is more controlled and stable (Spank or Not to Spank). Verbal punishment can be more harmful than physical ones. Being verbally assaulted can cause self-esteem or emotional issues (When Parents Lift Their Hands). Frequent uses of verbal punishments can become ineffective and hurtful as it can attack a child’s sense of pride and…

Many ask if spanking is wrong. Hitting anyone in anger or when losing an argument is bad behavior for parents and for children. Doing this to children sets a bad example. Some parents spank their kids when they do not listen or obey parents. However, other parents hit them without right reason such as an alcoholic parents beat them, and it can be considered child abuse. According to the article, it shows ninety percent of parents that admit to spanking when children are hit as a mean of correction. In the pros, the supporters believe spanking would stop children from misbehaving and correct their mistakes; these children would listen and obey to parents. The experts expect fifty percentages of parents that admit to spank teenagers who are between thirteen and fourteen years old. On the other hand, in the cons, spanking is considered as a child abuse, which the victim is living in fear of his or her parents. Some studies show ninety-three percentages of agreement that spanking has harmful effects to children (“Pros and Cons”). Mild spanking has an immediate compliance of the child. Every parent wants his/her child to become a successful person when he/she grows up. For example, some children are stubborn and disobedient which makes parents angry about their bad behavior. Especially, the children who are three or younger have been spanked a lot of times; parents mostly use hands to hit them on arm butt, hands, feet, or legs. Some people consider spanking helps children who are between the teenagers’ ages to understand what is right or wrong. Moreover, they can learn lessons from their parents’ advice and teaching. According to the researchers quoted by Dr. Zeidler said he was spanked when he was a little boy. He also approved, “Spanking children as needed when necessary and believes the occasional use of physical punishment-not abuse-can be an effective tool for parents” (Zeidler). The author argues that parents have the responsibility to teach their children in the correct way, especially not using any weapon. If parents…

In fact, spanking tends to increase child aggression. “Spanking predicted increases in children’s aggression over and above initial levels [of aggressive behavior]” and “in none of these longitudinal studies did spanking predict reductions in children’s aggression over time.” Instead, spanking predicted increases in children’s aggression. “ (Narvaez, D). Spanking your children has been proven to lead to aggressive behavior as the kid grows with age. Spanking can be a form of abuse. If parents are going to spank their kids, they need to send the right message about trying to get their point across to their kids instead of spanking them out of anger. “According to the research, children spanked up to the age of 6 were likely as teenagers to perform better at school and were more likely to carry out volunteer work and to want to go to college than their peers who had never been physically disciplined,” (Duke S.) Duke’s point is that parents that spank their kid for discipline up to the age of 6 learn their lesson and helps them get through school and continues on with their life after school. Personally I do think spanking is good to an extent but I do not see how it would help them get through their schooling and rest of their…

Spanking has become a debatable topic for decades. Some people are in support of it, while others are against it. According to the Farlex dictionary “spanking is defined as a number of slaps on the buttocks delivered in a rapid succession as for punishment.” In reality Spanking should not be considered as a child abuse. It should only be considered an abuse based on how it is issued. Parents are not supposed to beat their child on the head or in the face. If that happens, it will cause injury to the child, which will be termed as an abuse. First of all, it is not any parent will to develop hatred towards his or her own child, but it is the behavior of the kids that will lure their parents to beating them. There are certain kids who are so difficult in a way that, no amount of words or other punishment can stop them whenever they are doing something bad. Their parents…
