The founders of Coral Gables imagined their city to be the embodiment of beauty and community. My hometown, Coral Gables, has certainly achieved recognition for its level of beauty however, I do feel Coral Gables could improve the representation of their community. A major component of a great community is their flag. Moreover, A flag represents the unity of a group to whomever falls under it. To many people’s surprise, cities have flags however the flag design for most cities tend to be inadequate to basic flag design principles, unlike country flags. There’s a study for flags, it’s called Vexillology and there happens to be a group of flag experts in the U.S and Canada by the name of the Northern American Vexillological Association to do with issues regarding inadequate flag design.
