ABSTRACT

This lab I calibrated experiment equipment, did experiment steps (most do not include the computer steps) and assist partners in order to use computer software better. The experimental principle is the total energy of the kinetic and potential energy, elastic potential energy of the spring on the swing, is unchanged. So we do this experiment in order to prove that correctness of the above principles. Finally, the experimental results tell us that, although there are errors, the experimental principle is the total energy of the kinetic and potential energy, elastic potential energy of the spring on the swing, is unchanged.

Objective

In this experiment, we measured the swing angle, the length of the stick, and the velocity, the speed of the x-axis and y-axis of speed. And the changed length of the spring every time, the mass of the weight.

Equipment

Procedure

In this experiment, I first calibrated swing 0 on the scale of the instrument. And then began to swing, and let the computer discipline down. I calibrated spring instrument, and put it moved.

Discussion

Summary: In this experiment, we repeatedly forget the 0 on the scale of the calibrated instrument. Caused us that a lot of data not start from 0 scale.

Swing instrument is not perpendicular to the ground into a. Because of the relationship of the Earth's gravity, the read-out data will be errors.

When do the second experiment, Put an iron rail to prevent sloshing around, swinging up and down when heavy objects.

Difference on the elastic coefficient of the spring and the mass of the weight is large.

The third experiment, this is the best basketball and software flags the same point size.

Conclusion

In this experiment, we reach the goal.in Fig through data analysis, we can see both swinging or spring, and their total energy is maintained in a straight line (ignoring some particularly large error).From here, it can be know that, regardless of the form of energy and how the data changes, the total energy is constant.

    In this lab, I will study the principles of simple harmonic motion using an oscillating pendulum. If I were to design an experiment that would help me study the properties of an oscillating pendulum and investigate what causes a pendulum to swing faster or slower, I would prepare several masses (e.g. 20g, 50g, 100g, 200g, etc.) that can be attached to a string, several strings of varying lengths from 0.1m to 1.0m that are strong enough to support the weight of the masses, support for each pendulum, a stopwatch, and a measuring tool such as a meter stick. Using such materials, I would try to measure the length of the pendulum, the number of cycles the pendulum goes back and forth, the time it takes for the pendulum to do so, and the variables that drive the pendulum to act as so. Additionally, that for pendulums swung from angles smaller than 15 degrees, the angle they are swung at are virtually insignificant.     Before doing the experiment I came to the conclusion that this experiment relates to Hooke's Law which states that extension is proportional to the load, meaning that if you stretch something with a steadily increasing force, then the length will increase steadily too.
