The Honorable, Robert Turner
(Room #) (Name) House Office Building
United States House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative: Robert Turner

It saddened me to hear that a few months ago a bill to assist veterans in finding jobs, in which their military skills would be utilized, was voted down in Senate. Sponsored by Senator Patty Murray, "Veterans Jobs Corps Act of 2012", was thought to be a sure pass. The vote was 58-40; only 2 more votes were needed to pass this bill. This bill was effectively killed on the Senate floor by the Republican party on September, 19, 2012. The "Veterans Jobs Corps Act of 2012" was meant to tackle feelings of uselessness by giving our overqualified heroes an opportunity to work in fields appropriate to their abilities (For example police, firemen, armed security, etc.). Another government organization known simply as the VA program is suppose to provide jobs and other services like health care to veterans. In a recent assessment of the VA program, it was revealed that the systems in place to help veterans are not receiving sufficient attention. The organization seems unable to handle the imminence amount of cases refereed to them. The VA program's failures also have indirect consequences to those they serve. In a recent study by the "Center for a New American Study" new statistics revealed that we are losing the battle against veteran suicide. Startling results show that every 80 minutes a veteran commit's suicide. In 2011, 20% of all suicides in the United States were that of veterans. Many of those who thought about suicide said it stemmed from feelings of uselessness when they return home, from combat. The primary subject of "Veterans Jobs Corps Act of 2012" was to tackle these feelings of uselessness by giving job opportunities to veterans appropriate to their skills. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that presently the unemployment rate for veterans who served in Iraq

Non-Profit Assistance for the Disabled Veteran is important for two reasons. First, most veterans who return home after military service will not take advantage of their benefits. These benefits could assist them to better their quality of life. Second, veterans are in a position to start non-profit organizations with their Small Business Administration loans from the Veterans Administration. These Non-profit organizations will hopefully help many of our homeless and disabled veterans.…

To start off, veterans need help after the war because these veterans are risking their lives for our government. With this thought in mind the citizens that the soldiers are protecting are going through tons of hardships like divorce, loss of a loved one, etc. As stated from H.W. Brands, the author of “What Do We Owe Our Vets?” For many young veterans “jobs remain scarce, particularly for young male veterans looking for work in blue-collar fields like manufacturing and construction.”…

For students who are looking forward to fields such as engineering, Honors standards would extend their understandings of mathematics. The Veterans Administration is known not by the exceptional care and service they provide, but by the outrageously high numbers of suicide and death to service members waiting to be seen and treated through their facilities. We see brave Americans risking their life and limbs to defend this country only to return home to a flawed healthcare system. Since the beginning of the Second Gulf War, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has seen a surge of veterans coming in to seek help physically, and mentally. Even with the startup of the crisis hotline, a 24-hour support line, 22 veterans are committing suicide each day across the states. I want to find out if the crisis line is even effective. Also if this suicide rate has stayed its…

Active duty military men and women are committing suicide more today than they have in years past ( (Mallin, 2012). Total deaths from suicide is exceeding U.S. combat deaths in the Afghanistan War. In 2012 the deaths from suicide totaled 154 for the first 6 months of the year which is an increase of 18% from the previous year during this same time period (Burns, 2012). “In 2009, we lost almost as many active military to suicide as to combat” (Mallin, 2012, p. 2). There were 334 military suicides by November of 2009 compared to 297 killed in action in Afghanistan and 144 killed in Iraq. Unfortunately these statistics do not include men and women who have been discharged from the…

I’m contacting you about an issue that is of deep concern to the resident's and myself. The Ahlul-Bayt Islamic School/Community Centre/Scouts in the Vanier area. Their in the need of a proper play ground for the children to play. The play area for the children is all pavement and fencing, they also have no where for the kinder gardeners to play, the structure is old and rusted and its all fenced in. There also ain't no ramp for any child with a weel chair, there is also a shed in the back with a lawn mower which is unsafe for the children to play around. They also don't have a lot of parking for parent's to pick up their children. Making a bigger parking lot for the parents to pick up their children. The street issue is that the road of Baribeau St. need speed bumps because of the traffic around corners and speeding down the streets, while their are children in the area. There are so many issues with the Ahlul-Bayt Islamic School/Community Centre/Scouts that would benefit the public, the children and their families. Their mission is to offer academic excellence in an Islamic atmosphere and a quality learning environment to build and develop an integrated Islamic identity. The school - who consists of students, teachers and parents - will promote spiritual and moral values consistent with respect and good citizenship within the Canadian society. The school has 3 acres of property, which includes a tennis court, and fenced in preschool playground. But there is no playground for the older children but a tennis court, some children would love a playground to climb on instead of playing on pavement with balls. Ahlul-Bayt Islamic School/Community Centre/Scouts has a fully equipped science lab, brand new computer lab, gymnasium, library, and prayer room. They recently had a fire in the computer room. They might need some funding for repairs. Donations are always welcome, We are currently accepting contributions to the upcoming…
