In this experiment I tested different light intensities. I tested a normal fluorescent light bulb, a 100-watt light bulb, a 25-watt light bulb, and a 15-watt light bulb. I was surprised to find that the control plant grew the most at 135 mm. The 100 watt plant grew the least at 0 mm due to the fact that it fried the plant. The 25 watt plant grew the next highest at 120 mm. The 15-watt light bulb grew tall fastest, but then slowed down and stopped at 98 mm you would want to use this bulb if you wanted your plant to grow fast but didn't care about its ending height. My hypothesis was incorrect, because the control plant grew the most. This might have been because the control light bulb had a good balance of light. Some sources of errors could have been that I didn’t water exactly 25 ml each day. Also, human error in measuring plants. Some improvements I will make if I do this experiment again is I will make sure the plants are the same distance away from the light bulb, and use more plants. Light intensities can vary greatly from one bulb to another and some bulbs can be very expensive. So, in conclusion it would be best to just use plain old florescent lights. This may seem crazy and incorrect but from my lab I found that fluorescent light bulbs definitely work best. Especially if you want a slow steady growth and plant that can support
