Conceptually Relevant Themes
For my term project I have decided to use the theme of deception to base my storyline on. There are quite a few conceptually relevant themes that apply to this project and which I have looked at.
The concept I will use for my story is about a girl (Angelique) who meets a guy (Liam) over a dating site. At first Liam seems really nice and they start to like each other. Liam asks Angelique on a date and they both agree that Liam will come and pick her up at her place. While getting ready for this date Angelique’s roommate and friend (Nicole) is very curious as to who Angelique is going with. When she finds out that Angelique has never met this guy in real life she gets very suspicious and warns Angelique not to trust Liam and rather make use of public transport and to meet him in a public place. …show more content…
Angelique risks her life by going on a date with a guy who she has met over a dating site. When he then kidnaps her, her life is in real danger. Relationships is a big conceptually relevant theme in this short film since the main reason she is in this situation is because she is looking for a relationship and then as a result trusts a guy who she does not know.
This themes is relevant today, since there are so many people on dating sites these days and most of them would not even think twice about meeting one of these people who they do not know in real life. With our cell phones and computers/laptops being such a huge part of our lives nowadays people are more comfortable talking to someone over social media than they are talking to them face to face. For this reason people find it easier to meet people online than in real life.
