For pediatricians, one must go through four years of undergraduate school and take premedical classes, then do four years of medical in which they learn more in depth about medicine, and finally, take three to eight years of residency in the hospital they wish to work at (A Pediatricians Training). Teachers, on the other hand, have to get their undergraduate degree that is focused on teaching, complete a teacher preparation program in which they practice teaching lessons, and pass the certification exam (How to Become). For instance, pediatricians work in hospitals, while teachers work in schools. Pediatricians do not work alone; they work with other pediatricians, nurses, patients, and other staff. Teachers also do not work alone; they work with other teachers, faculty, staff, and students. Pediatricians must be able to, "explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians" (Pediatricians, General). As well as instructing the children and teaching them new information through lectures, teachers must "meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs" (Elementary School Teachers).
