The recorded version starts off with a moderato beat of four beats per meter (or called a quadruple meter). The rhythms through the entire live version match the recorded version perfectly. The only difference is the last guitar solo during the live version; I cannot tell what the meter is and there is no longer a beat, or even a steady beat, once the drums quit playing. The drummer speeds the tempo up dramatically, causing a lot of dissonance.…

I also noticed a little bit of polyphony in there when the chorus started to sing lower and then start to get higher around “He shall reign for ever and ever”. I believe where I detected it, along with the dynamics taking an effect. Then the around the ending the homorhythmic melody came back because of the settings from the trumpets and the timpani setting the mood to complete the performance. I also found out that this would be a SATB chorus, which is a 4-part chorus and…

For my song I picked Garth Brooks “The River.” I consider this song to be very meaningful. This song is about chasing your dreams and never giving up on what you believe in, reminding us that life is shorter than we think and if we just stand on the shore watching the river go by, then life will be gone before we know it. Garth Brooks uses a lot of psychological concepts in this song, such as, Attitude, Affect, Motivation, Optimism, and Behavior. Garth Brooks says, “A dream is like a river.” A dream changes, just like a river changes. As life changes, the river can be calm then strong then calm again, so our path in life change. Garth Brooks says that “He will sail his vessel until the river runs dry.” To me this mean no matter what life throws…

Polyphonic music had each instrument as its own part. The polyphonic form was much like a round. The difference is that a round keeps the same melody throughout. In polyphonic music, the beginning of the melody may be introduced, and the rest of the song may be different than the others’ music. Occasionally, all the parts might come together to play the same rhythms, but then disperse again.…
