Comparing Monkey's Paw, The Tell-Tale Heart, And The Raven
The texts "Monkey's Paw", "The Tell-Tale Heart", and "The Raven" all share similarites and differences. The stories all use word choice to create suspence and have similar themes. All of the stories have the theme of "what you want may not always be best". In "The Raven", the narrator wants for his lost love, Lenore, to come back and to no longer have sorrow. But, when a raven arrives (presumbably to rid him of his sorrow) he becomes furious, proving that what he wanted isn't what he needed. In "Monkey's Paw", the husband and wife wish for 200 pounds and recieved it, but at the cost of the death of their son. This shows that by getting what they wanted they lost what they needed.     “The Bells” and “The Raven” are both poems by Edgar Allen Poe. They are two of the best poems I have ever read. Poe was one of the best poets in his fans eyes. He put hard work and dedication into all of his poems. Edgar liked to use historic words in poems. In the poem “The Raven” the bird was on the window representing something but you don’t know what it is.
