Compare the Purposes of the Different Documents Used in the Selection and Recruitment Process of a Given Organisation
By comparing and analysing the different documents used within the interview and recruitment stages, we can gain a further understanding of what each of them are and do as well as their importance in both finding the correct applicant as well as getting the vacant position applied for, the different documents involved are as follows:

• CV
• Personal Specification
• Job Description
• Selection Criteria
• Criteria Sheet
• A letter of application with an application form

Furthermore, as part of D1, I will be evaluating the usefulness of having each piece of document in helping the employer, Matalan, and the potential applicant, in this case me, during the interview process.

CV – Curriculum Vitae
Some job vacancies require the applicant to hand in their CV.
A CV, or Curriculum Vitae works as a document listing information about the applicant which can easily be seen by the employers.

Information such as grades attained, previous work related experiences as well as hobbies and desirable qualities the applicant may have.

Matalan take information listed above into consideration when making their short listings, which they compare to the application form of the applicant.

Personal Specification Above is a copy of Matalan’s personal specification, these are the basic traits they expect their employees to have, so it is important that anyone wishing to apply meet this criteria, this ensures that the right people are taken on for the jobs as well as ensuring those taken on uphold and represents the company.

The Personal Specification can be found on the recruitment banner or leaflet found in store.

Job Description

A job description provides a brief description on details about the job role of a specific vacancy, in this case, the job description listed above is for a General Sales Assistant position within the company.
