Behaviorism focuses on analyzing and observing objective forces, rather than the subjective ones. By doing so, they assume actions are only performed according to the physical environment in which the act is performed. So, “looking to the environment for clues…” would be a good basis on which the psychologist is promoting behaviorism (Baird, 2010).…
The behavioral approach is the study of observable behavior and external factors - study of observable events. A psychologist studying the behavior of…

Psychologists uses a range of perspectives and approaches when studying how individuals think, feel and behave. Some researchers may focus on one specific perspective, whilst other researchers study a more diverse approach that may incorporate multiple points of views. Each perspective aims to offer explanations for different aspects of human behaviour.…

Behavioral theory is that personality is a result of the interaction between an individual and their environment. It is focused on observable and measurable behavior rather than mental or emotional behaviors.…
Within psychology, there are several perspectives used to describe, predict, and explain human behavior. The seven major perspectives in modern psychology are psychoanalytic, behaviorist, humanist, cognitive, neuroscientific/biopsychological, evolutionary, and sociocultural. Describe the perspectives, using two to three sentences each. Select one major figure associated with one of the perspectives and describe his or her work in two to three sentences. Type your response in the space below.…
Psychology is the focus on different subjects such as the human development, social behaviour and cognitive processes. There are different approaches that have been developed in order to explain the psychology. These perspective or approaches include the behaviourist, social learning, psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive and the biological perspectives. These perspectives focus on trying to explain human development by focusing on how people learn and develop. Also the perspectives explain how an individual’s behaviour can be influenced by ones childhood (notes).…
Wayne Dyer once said, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” The different perspectives in psychology help psychologists understand behavior and mental processes because there is no correct point of view; it is all assumptions and opinions. Although some perspectives seem “more right” in comparison to others, they all have unique attributes, assumptions and beliefs that help psychologists understand human behavior. The contemporary psychological perspectives include: the biological view, developmental view, cognitive view, psychodynamic view, humanistic view, behavioral view, sociocultural view, evolutionary view and trait view. Each perspective has strengths and weaknesses, but all nine of views contributed…
To be able to assess all five psychological approaches to study you need to understand what they are and how they work. All five approaches have their own strengths and weaknesses and they all have their own theories which explain human behaviour, the only problem is not all of them agree that their theories and studies are correct.…
In psychology there are six modern psychological perspectives. These perspectives are behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, sociocultural, and biological. Each perspective has its own unique way of explaining the human behavior. I believe to truly explain the complex mental processes and behavior, each perspective must be examined, not limited to just one. The following is my explanation and comparisons between two of these perspectives: psychodynamic and behavioral.…
Behaviorism was used in psychology and philosophy that focused on the outward behavior, and dismissed the inward experiential, and sometimes the inner procedural. (Hauser, 2013) Behaviorism describes how behavior is learned by explaining that people have no free will and that a person’s environment is the cause of behavior, and that behavior is the result of stimulation. Or situations can change the behavior of an individual, or individuals leading to different types of behavior, which can be positive or have a negative outcome.…
Each perspective or approach has its strengths and weaknesses, and brings something different to our understanding of human behavior. Each one of these perspectives searches for answers about behavior through different techniques and through looking for answers to different kinds of questions. Due to the different approaches, each perspective forms its own assumptions and explanations. The following paragraphs will give a briefing of the different psychology approaches.…
When it comes to psychology or psychologists, most people imagine a person lying on a couch and talking to someone about their problems. Maybe even rats, and monkeys running around being studied by humans. However, psychology has changed dramatically since the beginning of its time. Constantly expanding on new approaches, from structural, functional, psychoanalytic, to the most modern seven major psychology perspectives, one of which I am going to touch on in the contrast of this paper.…
The behaviourist approach is a strong support of the nurture side of the nature-nurture debate in psychology. Therefore the approach is very much an opposite to the biological approach with few similarities between them both. Both do in fact believe that psychology should be scientific and highly controlled, meaning their results are more reliable and replicable. Both approaches also focus on being objective rather than subjective. Both also use animals in their research. The differences however are the behaviour approach focuses on everything being influenced by environment where as biological focuses on everything being influenced by genetics. Therefore strongly supporting the Nature side rather than behaviour which supports the Nurture side.…
