Pg. 178). To successfully compete and to have the “ability to produce a good or service at a lower opportunity cost than some others” (http://www.econedlink.org/economic-resources/glossary.php), I enhance and continue to develop my skills by working as an …show more content…
The Bible declares in Colossians that “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” ("Bible Gateway passage: Colossians 3:23-24 - New International Version") This scripture clearly lets us know that that in everything that we do, we are to put forth an honest and concentrated effort because what we do is to be for the glory of God and in doing so He will reward

When we embrace God’s unique calling for our lives, we are freed to accept our limitations, move beyond illusion about who we are and take responsibility for our own giftedness. We are freed to do everything as unto the Lord (Col3:23). That includes excellence, truth, diligence, generosity and rest which gives balance and perspective. We are freed from the misguided sense of duty and expectations that often pressurize people into compliance, and the temptations of power, material security and prestige that sidetrack us from our calling. “The need doesn’t constitute the call” so we have to be able to say ‘no’. We are to get our direction from…

Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Ephesus teaches us that we have a great responsibility as Christian that “as prisoners for the Lord, then we are urged to live a life worthy of the calling we have received, Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)”. Although we can never earn our salvation it does come with responsibilities. We have a calling to live up to as Christians. What we do or don’t do is a reflection on Jesus, either good or bad.…

My ‘theology of work’ consists of two branches, one branch being the natural, or seen result of work, and the other being the blessing revealed by God in his holy scriptures. The natural view of work is that work is the means by which an individual gains funds to live his life, pursue his happiness, and in the end acquire nothing more than vanity. Believing work is no more than this will cause one to say with Solomon in his first chapters of Ecclesiastes, “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh… Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.” This branch shows…
