College Level Essay
In writing a college level essay, you must make sure that you first understand the topic that you are writing about. After you pick a topic that you are comfortable writing about, you have to research the topic thoroughly and most importantly know the definition of what you are writing about. Without doing those two steps, you cannot start a college level paper. After doing this, you must write a thesis opening up your essay with important facts that can get your readers attention and keep your readers attention. Without grabbing their attention, or grabbing their attention then loyou need

The term “Definition” means to define something. When you look up, or research the definition of the term, that leads the person reading to believe the essay will make a topic clear or will give meaning to a topic. There are four different types of essays that can be used as a definition essay, which are Evaluation, Classification, Analysis and Comparison. The topic is defined to the audience in a definition essay. Generally, the topic should be written in simple terms so the audience can understand. In my week three and four assignments, there are not any terms that I need to be defined. All of the terms that I used in these two assignments, and that I usually use whenever writing a paper, I know their definition, or I do not use it. When I write a paper I need to know what each word means, or I will not use it. If I was to write a definition paragraph or essay I would select a term or a topic, then I would think about different definitions for the word and ask what it means. I would research the world and look it up in a dictionary and a thesaurus , along with what I know about it, or any short stories about the definition. My final essay I am in the process of writing though, does not need to be defined. All of my paragraphs in my essay are defined, and well understood. Also, the paragraphs are very easy for all of my readers to read and understand. They will not need to ask what any words mean because I think that is not being professional if you write a paper with a bunch of words that your readers do not know. If your reader needs to take their time out to define and research something you put into your essay, I do not find that professional either.

Although I will not be using definition paragraphs in my essay, I will be using Compare and contrast in mine. This type of essay is a popular type of essay. In this type of essay you follow a specific topic and you can write this essay in several different ways. While writing this essay, you must remember structure. I have seen a lot of great essays fail and not be so wonderful because of bad structure. I would open my introduction essay more than likely with a quote, anecdote, or generalization which from there leads me into my thesis statement. I now write two separate topic paragraphs then continue to write a paragraph with topic 1 and 2 put together, and lastly my conclusion. I am going to use this type of essay for a few reasons. First of all, I am trying to prove a very important point in my essay. The point of this writing is to persuade my readers into reading my entire paper and hopefully changing their mind about wanting to buy an apartment/house instead of renting. I firmly believe that renting is a much better idea than buying, in this economy.

An essay must have a clear thesis that will help me structure the essay. After prewriting, I learned to read everything I had written down to be able to take some ideas that might go into my paper. Before this class, I used to concentrate in one single point and write very little on other points. This class has forced me to structure my paper in a way that everyone can understand. I always tried to adopt the habit of using clear, straightforward and concise words, that way my writing is clear and effective. To have an essay that everyone understands, I know that I need to make sure that my ideas are…

The move Amistad and the story “Interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano” have many similarities. The three similarities between the story and Amistad are the ways that the slaves were treated, the conditions of the ships, and the reactions of the slaves. In both the movie and the book slaves had to overcome horrific conditions to be freed, In the movie the main character Cinque was captured sold and thrown onto the Amistad and into the life of slavery but yet he was fought for and he finally made it home, In the story Olaudah finally was also on a slave ship and was sold into slavery.…

In my final paper I plan on using definitions. I think that this will help my essay out a lot. Using definitions will tell your reader the true meaning of your paper. It will allow the readers to get a full idea of what your essay will be saying, as in the main point of the essay. With me, I am writing about why Americans should not have a credit card. So, I have to make sure I get the point across and make them not want to get a credit card. By doing this I need to really put in my essay all the bad things a credit card can cause. A definition essay will also give details about the examples that readers may not understand right away. Detail is very important in an essay to me. I have to make sure in every essay I include plenty of detail throughout. It allows the essay to stick out and pull the reader in, wanting to read more. I want my readers to really believe that what I am writing about is bad in this case. I hope to provide a lot of resources from the internet to make sure my readers know about the consequences of owning a credit card.…

Throughout my life I have gone through very unfair things. There is always something between me and achieveing my goals, although those things aren't there to make life hard, but to make me fight for what I want. Before I used to say I didn't want to go to college and even if I did I wouldn't make it. Now I have a whole new different perspective and I really want to go to college to have both a good future and life. The reason there should be a spot for me in college are so many. I want to be the first one to graduate from college in my family. I want to be someone my little cousins would admire, a rolemodel. I would show them that even through the inequalities, the lack of money, and unfairness, I made it to college. Also I have my want of making something out of my life, no one wants to be a nobody. If you have the faith and belief in yourself, perseverance and effort, anything can be accomplished. If I make it to college I can help out and encourage my family to do the same. I want to go to college and graduate to become a Pediatrician which is what i've wanted to do all my life. I enjoy being with kids and I'd love to help them out. I could do all of this and more but going to college is a MUST. With a college education I'll achieve anything I set my mind, soul, and heart to do. I would try my best at everything, and stand on my own 2 feet, for my family, and especially for myself. If I get to receive a college education I would feel as if i'm on top of the world. Those are the reasons why their should be a spot for me in…

Throughout this novel there are a lot of characters worthy of comparing and contrasting, however I've decided to analyze Matsu, and Stephen relationship. The base of Matsu and Stephen relationship sort of reminds me of a George and Lennie relationship from the “Of Mice and Men Tale”, in which George carries around Lennie like a helpless pet by caring for him, guiding him through life, and bailing him out of the sticky situations he gets himself in.…

All people no matter who they are and no matter if they realize it or not, surround themselves with people who act or think like them, this is because humans naturally want to interact with people who share the same ideas and beliefs as they do themselves. When interacting with new or different people it can cause one to have mixed feelings about the experience. The opinion about a new group can either be positive or negative but having the experience is important to be able to decide a reasonable judgment about the unknown culture.…

Every word in our language has a meaning; however, not all words or concepts have concretely defined meanings. These are typically what we would refer to as abstract words or concepts. Such abstract words or concepts are often specifically defined in the context of the person using the word, and it is important as a writer to be able to explain to your readers how you are defining these words and concepts to avoid confusion and misunderstanding in your essays. For example, writers have attempted to define the various Constitutional Amendments for their own purposes for decades, and how they interpret these amendments affects our understanding of the position they are taking in their arguments. Also, it is often necessary to define cultural attitudes (what do emo or goth really mean?), religious beliefs (what the Koran teach or why are Passover or Hanukkah important to the Jewish faith), or racial identification (is the correct response Hispanic, Mexican, Latino/Latina, or Mexican-American and how do those outside the race know?). Definition helps explain these words or concepts more clearly.…
