Code Of Conduct Policy Paper
Case study one is in breach of the code of conduct policy. This policy outlines the standards of professionalism and behaviours expected to be upheld by all employees of the DET whether employed on a permanent, causal or part time basis (DET, Code of Conduct Policy, 2014, p.4). According to the Code of Conduct policy, duty of care must be applied to all activities and functions conducted by DET employees (p. 23). In this scenario, The casual teacher has not considered or assessed the issues associated with music in the classroom and has therefore breached their duty of care responsibilities as their actions do not comply with the DET Code of Conduct.
In this scenario, the teacher and causal teacher are both responsible for what happened. It was mentioned that the casual teacher was given a lesson plan outlining the activities needing to be done. Lesson plans need to be detailed and specific as they can better aid and prepare teachers to handle unexpected events or issues (Scrivener, 2011, p. 10). The teacher did not specifically state the allowance of censored music being played in her classroom and has therefore not set up the causal teacher for success in the classroom.

Although the teacher has been given permission from the school principal and has legitimately declared the job, a conflict of interest is still an issue in this situation.
