Coaster A song is more than just music, song typically is usually based on a person’s emotions, problems, and their lives. Coasters is one of the examples that is based on a person's emotions. In this perspective, it’s Khalid’s emotion and how it affected him. He relates his emotions as a Coaster, always going all over the place and wanting it to stop. In the song “Coasters” by Khalid, he utilizes the literary devices of Imagery, symbolism, and diction to prove that having to get over someone is difficult situation that some people deal with, but it’s for the better for themselves. In the song, he states “ So I’ll coasting, roller-coasting, through my emotions ” He’s explaining how his emotions are, they’re all over the place, not sure how to feel about the situation. He uses a roller coaster to express his emotions. Another way he showed symbolism is how she states; in the song “ I gave you my all, I showed the proof of your lies ” explaining how he realize her love wasn’t real by saying “ . . . proof of your lies ” basically exposing her knowing he wasted his time loving her. He’s expressing how he’s feeling when he wrote this song knowing, in the end, she ain’t the one. He continues on saying “ Coasting, roller-coasting In my emotions ” it’s like the first example but it changes. In the first example, he states “ roller-coasting through my emotions ”, while in this other line he states “ Coasting, roller-coasting In my emotions ”. In the second time, he said that I believe he’s starting to change based on how he felt toward the girl because in the beginning he’s depressed over a girl and he’s just unsure how to fell.
