Civil War Research Paper

The American Civil war was a war fought from 1861 to 1865, this war was a result of the slave free states in the north wanting the government to abolish slavery. The south was not very happy with the idea of slavery ending. To stop the union, and keep slavery the south fought for slavery, and the north fought to end it. This paper will describe the Civil war and cover details over the bloodiest war in U.S history that lasted 4 years.
During the time of the civil war there were 34 states. The southern states came together to form the confederate states of America. At first there were only seven confederate states, but after claiming two more states and the western territory of Arizona The southern states going into the civil war had expanded to 11 states. There were 23 states that stayed loyal the the union including California, Illinois, Ohio, and many more. The south was trying to get states to leave the union, and join the confederate states to fight for slavery. The main cause of the Civil war was slavery. The southern states wanted to keep slavery, and the north wanted to abolish slavery.
