The U.S., leads the world in incarceration rate at around 2 million people in jail or prison. Currently, the false conviction rate is around 1 percent. With approximately 2 million in prison that would make 20,000 people locked up for crimes they didn't commit. This is the case for Adnan Syed being falsely imprisoned for the death of his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Miss Lee went missing on January 13, 1999 after reportedly being seen with Adnan. Approximately three weeks later, her body was found in Leakin Park. At that point, Adnan was arrested and convicted due to key witness Jay Wilds who told the police everything they needed to build the case against him. While the prosecution argued that Adnan was jealous and vengeful, he just claimed…
The murder case of Hae Min Lee is full of unanswered questions. Adnan Syed, 17 at the time of the murder is now a 36-year-old man who had the potential to make a difference in our world. However, his peers betrayed him and he was falsely convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, which led to several trials. There have been unproven testimonies and possible alibies, but none that add up to a clear and concise answer. Although there is evidence from both sides proclaiming Adnan’s guilt and innocence; from what I have gathered, this case can only lead to his innocence. Personally, I believe Adnan is innocent because there’s not enough substantial evidence to prove that he is guilty.…
Adnan Syed perceived as a murderer and a menace , is he really to blame for the death of Hae Min Lee? It’s believable that the Baltimore Police Department had no idea who really killed Hae Min Lee therefore they jumped at the first lead they received . In all honesty what police department would like a murder case to be left unsolved, the answer is none. It not only looks bad on the police department but shows faults within the justice system of Massachusetts and their failing to solve the case. To conclude it’s believable that Adnan Syed is in fact not guilty of the murder of Hae Min Lee but is being perceived as guilty by others who testify against him.…

Arnold, whom is 6 years younger than Eugie, woke him up early to go pick peas. He brought along his gun in case he saw some ducks he could shoot. Ironically Eugie eyed the gun, “Don’t you know this ain’t duck season.” (535) Eugie doesn’t understand why he is taking his gun because it is not duck season but Arnold ignores him and carries on. To get to the pea plants they had to climb through a wire fence. As they were climbing through the fence “his rifle caught on the wire and he jerked it. The air was rocked by the sound of the shot … he lifted his face… Eugie did not turn around. Instead from his crouching position, he fell to his knees and pitched forward onto his face.” (535) Showing he forgot to put his gun on the safety, Arnold was too young, and too carefree to handle the gun. After he got home his parents were questioning him about where Eugie was. He wouldn’t answer them fearing he would get in some kind of trouble. Once the truth came out his mother was furious and wouldn’t talk to him. His parents made him go talk to the police about the accident. He felt so guilty and afraid that he was hiding out in the barn. “If his parents never called him, he thought, he would stay up in the loft forever, out of the way.” (536) If he was able to he would have stayed up in the barn…
Arnold’s threats escalate into hurting her family if she doesn't do what he wants. He has manipulated and put her down so much that now she feels trapped with no one else to turn to, which causes her to leave with him. Even though the abuse isn’t physical, this story is similar to feeling trapped in a relationship with someone you thought you could trust. Connie’s fragile emotional state was enough for Arnold to take advantage of her, and now the ending of her story in…
Guilt has also strongly influenced Grainier’s life. “Walking home in the falling dark, Grainier almost met the Chinaman everywhere. Chinaman in the road. Chinaman in the woods. Chinaman walking softly, dangling his hands on arms like ropes…” (7). Earlier that day at work, Grainier and a group of workers tried to kill a Chinese man. On the way home Grainier started seeing him everywhere, feeling guilty for what he did. But what changed his life a lot was when he believed the curse was the cause of…

Throughout the years, China is recognized for their huge mainland as opposed to Japan. China has more population than Japan. China has used their lands for agricultural purposes.
